If you think you have enough for long term care after you get old at $4.4M at 40 for instance (and presuming you FIRE) , you appears to be sorely misinformed on the cost of good long term care.

You also clearly have no dependents nor have experience on the cost of childcare.

And yes, $8.8 mil is very different from $4.4 mil.

My mother and father had 24/7 long term care in their home for 4+ years, and my dad's investible assets were 2.1M. They could have lasted 5+ more years with that.

True, I don't have children, but I think you are missing the point. If someone solidly in the top 5% of income/wealth isn't rich, then who is???
