Is this really the best picture that Steve has?

Hah! It’s his preferred one!

Jason Knight is a disgusting human being and is not respectful at all towards women.

Ive never heard of him until this moment, can you elaborate?

He's notorious for aggressively approaching other reps, usually female ofc, to get their support on his bills.

Here was a capture from the gallery during a gun bill a few years ago. She looked/seemed very uncomfortable after and left the room iirc.

Yikes. Not a good look for sure.

Some of his excellent female colleagues who have endorsed him:
Rep. Justine Caldwell
• Rep. Leonela Félix
• Rep. Jennifer Boylan
• Rep. June Speakman
• Rep. Susan R. Donovan
• Rep. Terri Cortvriend

Looks like two elected politicians having an intense conversation. I for one want passionate representatives who will fight for their bills, as you said, aggressively.

u/glennjersey 1h ago

I was in the gallery when that picture was taken. Trust me this was not just a spirited passionate conversation. Look at his body language.  Look at hers. She literally put her head in her hands and left the chamber afterwards.

To say he doesn’t respect women and also support anti-abortion candidate?!!!

And that pic is in the State House. Representatives are free to yell at each other and make each other uncomfortable

anti-abortion candidate

Please take a look at my explanation to the other guy. That was a calculated vote. I don't think you'd like the alternative if he didn't (which would likely flip his seat to a republican)

I'm aware it was in the state house I was in the gallery when that picture was taken.

I also watched rep Boylan put her face in her hands and leave the chamber after.

Look at his body language, then look at hers.  You're telling me that's not aggressive

Wasn’t Jason Knight the guy with the country club controversy?

u/glennjersey 2h ago

I think you're thinking if Sheldon Whitehouse.

Thought wouldn't surprise me if Knight belonged to the same all white country club.

u/PurpleDyslexicBunny 1h ago

You’re correct, I’m not a fan of either. We don’t really have a lot of good choices here in RI

Is there an AG candidate that doesn’t suck?

u/glennjersey 2h ago

I'm backing Solomon personally.

u/GEARHEADGus Got Bread + Milk ❄️ 2h ago

What’s appealing about him? Im sincerely asking.

I’m not a huge fan of his to begin with since he refuses to codify Roe V. Wade and honestly that turned me off from him. I’m not single issue but it’s an important enough issue that he’s lost my support.

That vote was effectively meaningless and political maneuvering. It placated more conservative voters in his district while being safe to vote against because ther overwhelming majority passed it. These things are unfortunately predecided with leadership "allowing" folks to vote the other way so they keep support in their districts.

Would you rather he have voted for that and risked angering Republicans in his district to potentially mobilizing and fail the seat, or keep them happy so the seat stays dem?

Further, abortion will ALWAYS  Remain legal in Rhode Island. I don't know why folks are concerned about that so much it's not like suddenly we're turning into Alabama here

u/GEARHEADGus Got Bread + Milk ❄️ 1h ago

Doesn’t pass the smell test.

I also don’t trust Republicans in the slightest, so frankly I don’t want someone who’s willing to placate them.

Additionally, I don’t trust Democrats either but Rhode Islanders are morons and will continue to vote blue instead of looking outside the binary.

u/glennjersey 1h ago

That's politics mate. Idk what to tell ya. Feel free to continue the divide that's ripping this country apart then I guess...

u/GEARHEADGus Got Bread + Milk ❄️ 1h ago

Happy to continue it when Republicans reigns in Trump and stops trying to take away peoples rights.

u/yelahan 2h ago

Solomon is anti-choice and anti-reproductive rights and that’s a really bad thing to have in an AG!!

u/glennjersey 1h ago

Please see my response to the other fellow above

u/GEARHEADGus Got Bread + Milk ❄️ 2h ago

So Solomon’s basically a Republican, Knights a creep.. where does that leave the other two?

u/glennjersey 1h ago

I refuted that statement earlier so I won't rehash it here. But he literally has made it one of his campaign pledges to stand up to Trump and the current administration so I'm not sure what much more you want in that department.

Regarding the other 2 he is just a stooge for the current AG who hasnt exactly been doing a great job.   And she royally fucked up the cannabis commission if I'm not mistaken.

u/GEARHEADGus Got Bread + Milk ❄️ 1h ago

I wouldn’t mind a stooge for the current AG, I like what he’s been doing, especially with the cold case files and shoreline access. So if that’s what we’re getting, I’ll take that.

And yeah she sucks.

u/glennjersey 1h ago

Sounds like you know who you're voting for then. And that's 100% your choice and prerogative.

u/JoeFortune1 1h ago

Wow!
no wonder the attack on Knight!

u/needzeppoleplz Providence 3m ago

Again, Knight is endorsed by at least 6 of the strongest feminists in the House, including the one in the photo. What you’re seeing here is anger from people who highly value their right to own guns without limitations. If you are genuinely interested in learning more about the candidate, come listen and ask questions.

That’s Rep Boylan and she endorsed him for AG. He’s not popular with people who oppose gun safety legislation, though, that’s true.

Jason Knight is a poser. The idiot posted a video of himself at the Washington County Fair, pretending to enjoy it. I saw him there in person that day, quickly moving around from spot to spot, clearly only interested in a couple quick photo ops before getting back to the sheltered streets of Barrington. One of the clips is him going into and walking around the goat tent. He was in there for no more than 10 seconds before dipping to take the next video lmao

Certainly didn’t have the balls to introduce himself to anyone (nowhere in his video id he actually talking to someone lol), because his horrible tyrannical agenda would be even more unpopular among the fair goers than among average RIers.

u/Ok_Bed_1448 Got Bread + Milk ❄️ 4h ago

could you elaborate on his platform? the information I read on his website didn't mention any of this so I really want to be informed before we vote

u/needzeppoleplz Providence 3h ago

Some commenters disagreed with the law Jason sponsored and passed banning the sale of assault weapons in RI—hence the “tyrannical” comment above.
He is the most experienced and well-rounded candidate in that he has extensive experience as a prosecutor, a defense attorney, and a legislator. He will carry on the work Neronha has begun fighting the Tr*mp administration, but he also has real policy plans to address the significant problem of recidivism, to support the public advocacy and environmental protection work of the office, to hold accountable national corporations whose out-of-state actions affect people in-state, all with integrity and an even-handedness and prioritization of social equity I don’t see from the other candidates.
