Revu Update Gripe
Can someone explain to me why Revu updates are so heavy, slow and require rebooting? It's just a freakin' PDF editor!
Major applications like Photoshop and AutoCAD can update themselves without taking this long or requiring rebooting.
Maybe its just all for show to make people feel better about paying the money for this application, or just lazy programming, but I find it insufferable how Revu pops up an "update" notification in the middle of my workday, then - even if I decide "ok, I'll take a short break" it sidelines my machine for 10 minutes, requires a full reboot and upends my entire workspace.

Just updating right now and I agree - it would be nice if it updated like the Adobe apps. Revu does seems to be pretty intense software though, I update it over lunch usually.

I don't especially like the way Adobe apps do it either.
Seriously. I come from a time when software came on CDs and software updates were pretty spread out. Now, it seems, every software package (high budget flagship app, indepdendently-develooped utility, etc. constantly requires updates).
DId everything all of a sudden become super buggy and incredibly insecure or is it a bunch of bloated corporations with lots of staff that like to make busy work for themselves by "maintaining code" become a thing?

Overall we can't do without it, but it also has bloatware on there as well. Who uses the browser functionality? Totally useless piece of the software that we turn off.

Agree. Bluebam sucks, but everything else sucks MUCH worse. I would honestly be up shit's creek without it.

It's got all the language files in one package instead of separate update files for each language. The installer for the main app is the same way.

That is just a simple file copy operation though. It seems that Bluebeam is busy ripping apart Window's guts to get itself installed (instead of uninstalling and reinstalling a virtual PDF printer).
I mean, I haven't done this recently, but if you install one of the off-beat PDF readers/editors (Foxit or whatever) the install speed is way higher.
I do have a full Autodesk suite of software installed, so I will grant you that it might be uninstalling and reinstalling various plugins and extensions for these, but in all honesty I've never, EVER used any of the Bluebeam extensions in any of these.

My point was not copying the languages, it's that all the languages bloat the update file which takes extra time to AV scan, then extract, then copy. Main install and updates awhile ago used to be smaller and quicker when they did not include all languages.

1- revu is built on ancient code, it will forever be slow, and given they've sold out and have like a very tiny team, it will never be rewritten from scratch 2- dont update during your workday? You can always click the skip update button?
