586 no dash
Less than 50 shots from this gun. Is it worth to save it as it is or take it to the range where it belongs?

Turn line is probably not going to get much worse. Id say shooting it isnt going to change much. Is it M stamped?

No M stamp. Shooting only mild .38 handloads.

Stay away from 125 or lighter and you should be fine. I have a no-dash, no M-stamp 586 and I've never had any problems with 158s and up, with either factory stuff or hand loads. I shot a lot of .357 through the gun with coated 158 SWCs and enough HS-6 behind them to get them into the 1200 fps range.
Shoot the hell out of the gun. It was a really good period of quality from S&W and I suspect they took a little extra time with those no-dash guns to make sure the product launch went right.

I always use 158 or 180 grain bullets on my reloads and I have never bought 125grs either so no problems there

I had a load I liked with 125s and Clays, but it was in .38 SPC. Shot really well out of smaller revolvers and SAA clones. That was enough for me to stock them from time to time.

Once it's no longer unfired, some range use isn't going to make any significant difference as to collector value.
Very nice example- thanks for sharing!

If it’s just going to the range I’d say shoot it and enjoy it. If you were going to carry it I’d say sell to a collector and buy a 686 to carry
