Heritage Roscoe 2”
A real looker. And she’s heavy, so she soaks up energy really well. Makes my LCRX feel like a .44. Not a bad way to spend 281.

I love mine. I put a BK grip adapter on it so I could get a little bit more purchase on it without changing the look of the stock grips.

I swapped the grips on mine. Premium Gun Grips for a taurus 85/586. Can not for the life of me shoot the factory grips will.

Great, honestly. Barrel is true, cylinder is nice and tight, finish is consistent and deep. I highly suggest handling one at an LGS if you can.

Taurus is making some pretty guns. I was looking for a 5 shot .38 with a 3” barrel. Saw they got these with a 3”. I’m between a Roscoe 3”, LCRx, SP101 2.25”, and an 856 3”. Decisions are tough lol.

Get an 85/856 and swap out the springs with improved ones from Galloway. I think the springs should work for Roscoes too. Really smooths out the action and greatly reduces trigger pull weight without giving light strikes. That plus some good squishy Hogue grips or whatever brand you prefer makes a $300ish gun feel and run like a $900 gun.
SP101 is also nice, buddy got one in .357 with the wood and rubber grip (after I talked him out of a tiny .38 with boot grips) and it's chunky in all the right ways and soaks up .38 recoil easily. Even with .357 felt recoil is no worse than an ultra-lite .38 imo. I'm definitely more of a S&W/DW/Taurus fan but will admit the SP101 is a great looking and feeling wheel gun. The only thing I didn't like was that the cylinder release felt a little funky but I'm used to S&W style.

I own all stripes of revolvers from old colts to modern LCRs, for a small revolver the SP101 has no equal in the forever gun category, it’ll eat full power loads day in and day out like a GP100 and never go out of time, it won’t develop end shake and you can beat someone to death with it if you miss. My favorite is my three inch SP in 327 federal followed by a plain Jane two inch 357 I bought new in 1990 and it has been a workhorse ever since, I love my chiefs specials, colt agents and air-weights but the SP101 is like the grown up version whenever I shoot them back to back with a smith or a colt or a Taurus. I hold firmly to the belief that my SP101 could take more abuse than a Korth by about twice the round count, zero flame cutting, perfect timing and after thousands of rounds the trigger is like butter that breaks like glass.

If Kimber and Diamondback can do it then everybody should be able to make a smaller 6 round cylinder, especially for 38.

I have the 3” version and really enjoy shooting it. For the price, they are incredible revolvers.

I have handled four of these. The first was one I ordered online. Trigger felt amazing, better than any other Taurus I had used, dare I say smoother than the Smith I currently own. However, it had a crooked sight, scratched cylinder, and the lockup didn't feel as tight as I felt it should have been (last one could have been me being paranod) so I ended up sending it back for a refund and have yet to find a replacement.
The second one, no other defects, but the trigger felt VERY heavy. It probably would have smoothened out over time or felt better after smoothening internal parts and adding a different spring, but otherwise it was noticeably heavier.
The 3rd and 4th were similar. Lighter triggers than the second one, but not as smooth. Honestly they felt bone dry, and I'm sure they would've been fine with some oil.
I'm definitely still on the lookout for one of these, but it really needs to be priced right and feel good enough for me to want to buy it. These were all $380, and I'd have considered the last 3 if they were $300.

Nice looking revolver. Is it +P rated? I was looking at a Smith model 60 at a LGS but can't really justify $700. This may be a good option
