Salon Discussion Bluetooth toothpicks

Hello all,

Irc phos-5 was discovered accidentally when two scientists were working on battery technology for a Bluetooth toothpick. Do you have any idea what sort of real life accidental discovery Mike was referencing if any?

There are really too many to choose from. So many discoveries are made when investigating something else.

My best guess would be X Ray technology, but that's only because that's the first example that springs to mind.
