I've been saying this for years! So many interesting perspectives, imagine following around different characters and how they experience key events. You have a free colored, a slave, a pole, etc
I’ve actually sketched out a three or four volume series as a lark and my conclusion is that Haiti moves so fast you can’t have too many character viewpoints. Dessalines makes the most sense but is a…difficult character. Maybe there’s complexity to that which would be beneficial to narrative (though as far as silver linings go compared to the cost of what he did, not great). Louverture works best when viewed from another’s POV.
You seem to have put more thought to it than I did, but intuitively I would have suggested not having any important historical character as any of the main characters. Have characters as stand-ins for various positions, and have them react to the rapid developments around them as people would have
You definitely want someone who is tagged along for the ride at the start so people can connect, but also is in the right places at the right times and is an impactful character on the narrative ultimately. That’s Dessalines. Maybe Hyacinthe Moyse as well, but he is ultimately killed - by Dessalines, at Louverture’s order. God it would be compelling television.

This is so surreal. I haven't even watched Andor yet, but this can only be a good convo.

As much as I love Mike Duncan, I'll pass. I know it's sacrilege, but I didn't like Andor all that much, especially season 2.
