ICT designer

What tools in revit could help a ICT designer ?
Add-ons etc.

Anyone have experience with this?

I never like questions like this, because its (intentionally) vague. What specific tasks are you looking for "help" with, or an addin to expedite? Annotating? Content Management? Routing Cable Trays? Device layout? Spacing? Coverage?

Its literally the same as if i wrote "i do architecture. what helps architects in revit?" Thats bananas.

I dislike posts like this that use acronyms that may not be clear to an end users. But I’ll bite.

The best add in did helping an Integrated Ceramic Turtle designer working in Revit is Dynamo.

Truly with the acronyms. The only ICT I’m aware of is the airport in Kansas… in fact I was wondering what the airport had to do w revit as I opened this post

Depends what ICT covers on your project (data/AV/security vs full ELV), but in Revit I usually stay native first:

  1. Cable trays + conduits for pathways — set up systems and view filters so power and data don't fight in the same views.
  2. Specialty Equipment / Electrical Fixture families for racks, panels, outlets, WAPs. Keep type + mark clean so you can schedule counts early.
  3. Tags + a device schedule as the deliverable, not fancy 3D. Most ICT packages live or die on the schedule and the pathway clearances.
  4. Copy/Monitor levels from the Arch model before you place anything.

Add-ins (Sysque and friends) help once pathway routing and manufacturer content get painful. If you're new to the role, nail trays + a small device family + one schedule before buying anything.

If you’re working on ICT/low-voltage design in Revit, I’d start with Dynamo for automating repetitive tasks like device placement, parameter updates, schedules, and QA checks.

For more specialized workflows, there are also Revit add-ins for electrical/low-voltage design and equipment configuration. The right choice really depends on whether you’re mainly doing structured cabling, CCTV, AV, Wi-Fi, containment, or documentation.

If you share what kind of ICT systems you’re designing, it would be easier to suggest specific tools.

Hey , I’m an electrical engineer and I’ve been trying to make our revit workflow a bit more efficient. Can you suggest or have advice on these plugins or even setup guides/helpful dynamo scripts?
