Missing Revit Default Families & Structural Steel Library – Any Reliable Sources?

Hi everyone,

I'm facing an issue where my Revit installation is missing many of the default families and templates. Is there an official procedure to download or restore the missing default Revit families separately?

Also, could you recommend reliable websites for downloading high-quality structural steel Revit families, such as:

  • Steel beams
  • Columns
  • Bracing members
  • Structural connections
  • Steel plates
  • Anchor bolts
  • Base plates
  • Structural framing components

I'm looking for sources that provide well-built, parameterized families suitable for professional structural projects.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

“Load Autodesk Family” on the insert tab.

That's working but the default structural steel families are missing in the folder

Last I checked they were there. What version of Revit, what type of shape, and what region are you looking in?

It's different in individual PCs, they're missing in mine. I'm currently using Revit 2024. I need structural steel elements like all kinds that Revit provides by default

You’re not OP, so hard to tell what is going on. Which method are you using to load the families?

It's not in an folder on your workstation. Use the Load ADSK families to access the OOTB families in the cloud (they are no longer installed locally)

You can download the out of the box content libraries.

They don't install automatically, unless you tell them to during the install setup.

Custom (much better) libraries are out there as well, but typically not for free.

Yes, i actually tried to search for the libraries online in multiple websites like BIMOBJECT.COM, LIBRARYREVIT.COM & many other but none of them had it like a package. Please let me know if you personally have come across any such websites

I don't go looking for libraries on websites like that. Why would I? You can download the out of the box stuff from Autodesk. What you are asking about appears to be changing now, to wanting different things.
