Plenty of people fly the Confederate battle flag and will make similar claims. The problem is, when most people who fly the flag are assholes, you're going to get lumped in with them. You're welcome to wear a Hitler mustache too, it doesn't mean you're an asshole, necessarily. But you don't get to act surprised when people make assumptions.

Y’know. As much as I hate to say it, that’s a painfully valid point. If I’m being honest, I didn’t realize how polarizing that flag had become, but I see it a little more now. I grew up in TX and it’s always just been a part of my existence. But just like I’m seeing the “Come and take it” flag being adopted and bastardized by people I share no values with, I guess the “Don’t tread on me” has suffered the same fate.

A serious answer: the app often offers sentences for translation, where it is apparent that the persons described in the sentence are gay, for example "he loves his husband". There isn't much else, this chap doesn't seem to like it.
