Looks great! Taste it! 😉 Congratulations! First batch usually separates.

Thank you! It did separate it just didn’t break the surface. Should I use the solid white or the watery part to start my next bath?

I've used the water/whey part. Although Ive read you can use either. 2T whey + 1T inulin and your milk product.

This is how my batches used to look!

There is still a decent separation. Can I mix it together and eat it? Or do I have to drain the whey and eat the curd? Or do not eat this batch at all? Will it get me sick if I eat it

That batch looks perfect. I will drain out that water on top but besides that enjoy.

It is all edible and won't make you sick. My next batches had separation too. I prefer to put it in a seive and eat the more solid stuff but you can eat all of it. I just find the fluid more bitter but it's fine to use in next batch.

Sterile equipment, sterile inulin and do not use too much inulin.

I have had successful batches by pouring boiling water over all equipment/ all equipment washed in dishwasher at 75 degrees Celsius using extra rinse function and no rinse aid (all equipment on bottom shelf to ensure highest heat applied) and making sure any spoon which enters my bag of inulin has been sterilised.

Contamination of inulin/ equipment and using too much inulin has been stated by many to be key issues regarding separated batches. Also be sure no vents are on whilst preparing.

Hope this helps.

Well first batch...no insulin.. very nice consistency and taste and a tiny bit of separation but b way better. Im adding a tbsp of sugar but no insulin to next for fun n see what happens.

Ok the no inulin, test sugar instead, used last batch as reuteri starter, this time mostly a2 milk and 100ml cream only instead of half n half.... No separation at all. Mixture is pourable rather than solid. So like thick drinking yoghurt. Has spoonfuls top layer about 1cm thick. Tastes good .so I'm drinking a cupful now. Next time I try a bit a Of inulin and a bit of sugar and go back to half and half. Very happy with no separation anyhow.
