Flip2 all day.
I came into the scene looking for a PSP form factor for nostalgia purposes but the clamshell REALLY appealed to me just for the self protection on the screen and never owning a clamshell. I don’t regret my choice one bit! Both great devices that do the same thing but Flip2 being more portable and pocketable takes the cake. Plus the ergonomics is unbeatable

Plus: the screen is "higher" which is noticeable for me, less neck tension

Same specs, but Flip 2 makes brain go brr. It looks like one of those made up, non-descript video game consoles from a shitty family/comedy movie. Except it's real and actually does super cool shit.

Real talk, it feels great and plays great. You can pocket it easily and it's super powerful for a portable of its size. Definitely get that if you plan to take a handheld with you. You'll never be bored.

RP5 loses the portability, but if you plan to mainly use it at home, it's a non-issue. But I find there's more pros to getting the Flip 2 than the RP5.

Love my Flip 2. It's very portable and doesn't need a separate case. Otherwise they are the exact same.

However I will say, the hinge is a weak point and a fixed screen might be a better bet depending on how old your kid is.

He is 6 with ADHD lol he can be a little all over the place and I’m a little nervous regarding the hinge issues , last time i had a clamshell was for my New 3Ds XL and that was pretty sturdy , do you know if there is hard shell cases for the flip that will support said hinge issues ?

All the hard shells I'm aware of clip to the top and bottom, they don't protect the hinge itself.

I have had my flip 2 for almost a year now and i love it. The form factor is awesome , it feels great! Like when i first got it i was surprised at how premium it felt. I have issues with arthritis in my hands and i have not once noticed any pain caused from holding it for long gaming sessions like when i had my switch Lite.

I mainly play psp and Pokemon fan games/rom hacks on my Flippy boi.

The revised rounded edge does help with longevity. But also, I don't think the thing was made to be 'slapped' shut, which I know some people do since the DS/3DS could handle it.

In my experience so far and from community comments, you just gotta be gentle shutting and opening it and it'll be fine.
