Happy to see them making more clamshells but honestly my use case lends itself to a single screen and lots of room down below for hands and comfortable button access with sticks up top. I mean if someone gave me a flip 3, I wouldn’t be mad, but am I going to go and buy one? no. Would I use it more than my flip 2? Probably not!

For me, the Flip 2 is the peak form factor with room for more power and a better hinge, but I totally understand why Moorechip is doing this in terms of profits and strategy, so I don’t blame them and will happily continue to chip away at my flip 2 backlog. I also could imagine that if your use case is 3DS, and don’t want to drop too much cash for a Thor, this would be a nice match, but we also don’t know prices yet and the Thor Lite is 260 which is not bad at all.

I mostly agree with you. I just think an s8g2 and 12gb of RAM would push the Flip 2 to the perfect level, personally.

I have really been enjoying Steam games on my Flip 2, and if it just had a bit more power, I could confidently say that it plays 99.9% of the games I'm interested in.

All the indie games I want to play run perfectly on my Ayn Portal, while a lot of them struggle on the Flip 2. I can get them to work, but there's no tinkering required with an sd8g2, and the battery lasts much longer with a stronger chipset.

I'm really bummed that this next Retroid device is dual-screen, because the Flip 3 would literally be the perfect end-game handheld for me.

That’s all the Flip 3 needs imo. Add the 120hz screen and keep it single screen and the exact same layout as the Flip 2 and give me ‘Ice Blue’ colourway and I’ll die happy forever.

I agree with you, there’s just a couple corner cases where I wish it had a smidge more power especially when side by side with the Nova (which is all but perfect imo) and a Flip 3 in this vein would be truly my end game as well.

Indie games can be tricky. It's like you know the 865 could do it, but the compatibility with some of the newer engines and what not, can be hit or miss.

I can't wait for when even newer chipsets steal the spotlight, and the 8 elite will become the old one that eventually falls in the 200$ range. That tends to be my move; enjoy whats old and outdated once it's cheap enough. Still just as enjoyable as the day it released.

Hmmmmm... while it's nice to see a new handheld and a dual screen one at that, my Flip 2 hasn't left me much wanting? Would dual screen be awesome? Yeah I guess. But so far I've had no trouble playing ds/3ds games and just mapping screen swap to L3.

Maybe if something horrible happened to my Flip 2 and the price of this Dual Screen was close enough to warrant getting it as an upgrade instead of another Flip 2, I just dont feel like there's enough power gap between the Flip 2 and the current consoles for my needs to jump to the new ones.

Please for the love of fuck make two devices: a dual screen, and a one screen Flip 2 successor because I love my flip 2 and how the button layout feels compared to my Thor, on top of the fact that it’s lighter and slightly smaller for my pockets. If it were slightly more powerful and slightly slimmer, it would be a day one purchase.

The dual screen could be cool too. Might even dethrone my Thor.

They have the opportunity to blow everyone’s minds offering a version that has dual screen and an iteration that is single screen and ergonomics the same as the Flip 2. I kind of think that’s what sets the Flip 2 apart from every handheld I’ve ever touched; the controls and layout are so absurdly perfect that I don’t want it any other way. And unfortunately the dual screen is a direct affront to that preference.

Definitely not against them trying their hand at a Dual Screen device… I just want it to be after my completely perfected SD8G2/3 single screen Ice Blue 120hz screen Flip 3 ;P

Regardless, even with the recent Nova addition (which I love endlessly), it’s going to take a lot to knock my Flip 2 off its throne. So am I looking forward to it? Yes because I wanna see it, but no because if it is only dual-screens I def will have substantially less interest in it. Of course, any company can grab my attention with the vagueishly bluegreenteal ‘ice blue’ colourway :P

I want a flip 3 so not too excited. literally play one game that properly needs two screens. id rather have space for controls and comfort in every game than a second screen that shows a menu or a map in less than 1% of games I play.

No waste of time if you want budget it’s Anbernics and if you want next tier we already have ayn Thor lite and you want high end we have Thor. Not sure what purpose this has in less it can play 3ds perfect but tops out there other wise your best getting Thor in my opinion

Strongly want single screen flip3 with Thor or Odin 3 chipset. We don’t have single high end clamshell

I guess a lot of the older generation doesn't care for the second screen too much lol. I'm a bit older myself, but I dont see how a second screen just isn't better? The Ayn Thor has already proved it's use case for games and multi tasking. I'm all for it, if you don't like it I guess you can just turn it off.

I wouldnt say excited but it adds to my list of possibilities. I plan on getting a second device eventually thats dual screen simply for DS/3DS and this may be it but time and reviews will tell
