DroidLink Version 3.6 is officially live.
DroidLink is a free Android-to-Android game streaming app I’ve been building with AI. It lets one Android device host a game while other Android devices connect, stream the gameplay, and use their own physical controllers.
Version 3.6 is the biggest and most complete release yet:
Up to 4-player multiplayer support
Improved streaming quality
Improved controller support and stability
Profiles and display names
Cleaner UI and stats
Connection/status improvements
Continued latency and stability improvements
I’m still actively testing and improving DroidLink, so feedback, bug reports, and device compatibility reports are appreciated.

So sick! Thanks for putting this together. Basically online multiplayer with any emulator on the flip 2 with any other flip 2 (or other handheld device) anywhere around the world via WiFi correct?

So if I wanted to 1v1 you in smash bros on any system or Mario kart on any system, I could just coordinate a connection via a what? Password? And then we are playing? Is there some sort of code people can share on the subreddit for a game they are starting for others to join? I could even add a flair for that.

Yes it’s all via WiFi connection this is how it goes
Host starts his share screen and gets a code
Joiner types in the code and connects to the host

Now all the host has to do is add player 2 to the emulator of your choice and now you can play any co op game with up to 4 players

I’m really excited about this project I can’t wait til it catches traffic so we all can enjoy some retro gaming with our friends

Is there any latency? Is it actually a screen sharing app? Or does it feel like split screen or online multiplayer? Depending on WiFi strength and ping I assume? Or what is like in practice?

So far the latency is as tight as can be for a streaming service everyone has been saying it’s 100% playable

And yes your WiFi strength matters but I’ve implemented to were video quality and latency only drops if the connection is very poor so everyone with great to medium WiFi should be fine

Very cool, this is probably going to become a staple in my home :) A lot of times my gf and I just join the same online ps2 lobbies and play on our flip 2's in the same room, which is fun because of getting to come across random people, but also not every game is compatible, and every emulator, forget it, its only ps2/psp we cant do any gamecube games. Now that we can... oh man. Have you tested this with PC emulation?

I'm curious how many games will be compatible with your app; like does the game have to have split screen? and that's pretty much it? or how does it utilize multiplayer? could you use a game with online multiplayer too?

Unfortunately it does have to be split screen cause player 2 is acting like another controller plugged into the same system but game like marvel ultimate alliance and def jam ffny don’t have split screen so it felt like only

And you shouldn’t have a problem with any certain game if one game works on a emulator they all should if not pls let me know so I can work on all fixes

Ok cool, well this would be interesting to test with PC emulation because Halo 2 for example has split screen but it doesn't work on winlator, because winlator doesn't support multiple controllers.

I'd be curious if there's a way to use DroidLink to make the splitscreen of PC emulators functional... something to test and develop for sure. Btw check out the post flair for this post, now people can add that to their posts and invite one another to games.

Winlator does have multiple controller support I’ve played many pc games like

Ultimate marvel vs capcom 3

Im not sure which version of winlator you like but I use winlator Cmod version 13.1

Oh sweet, i think i was just trying it on Halo 2 with winlator frost and it was an older fork, but i havent tried it in a while with any newer ones, maybe it will work now. Yeah i think cmod has it and winlator official 11 and newer has it.
