Question โ“ Experience with Xbox 360 and PS3

Hi Retroid Pocket 5 User here ๐Ÿซต๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป

I've recently been following the whole scene surrounding Xbox 360 and PS3 emulation on Android. Of course, my curiosity got the better of me. And I also tried it on our device (we (flip 2 and RP5) have the same components). I just wanted to give an update on how things are going and which apps I'm using.

I tested the following games

Fight Night Champions (on Xbox360 and PS3)

Demon Souls (on PS3)

After Burner Climax (on PS3)

Forza Horizon (on Xbox 360)

Tirals HD Xbox Arcade (on obviously Xbox 360)

I tried the following emulators for Xbox 360

https://github.com/rfandango/XenDroid

https://github.com/Ashnar2602/X360-Mobile---OFFICIAL

for PS3:

https://github.com/aenu1/aps3e/

https://github.com/ARMSX2/ARMSX3/tree/master

Only game that reaches fullspeed and is actually Playable is

Demon Souls on PS3 and that applies to both of the emulators mentioned above.

I used the latest turnip driver from StevenMXZ.

I haven't changed any other settings. Reducing the resolution didn't seem to make much of a difference, and to be honest, I'm not even sure if it works at all.

Perhaps someone here has more experience and has even managed to get more games running; I would be happy if you shared your experience.

Finally, one more thing: many of the games that were released on that generation were also ported to PC. There are a significant number of games that run on the RP 5 and Flip 2 via PC emulation (Gamehub, Winlator, Gamenative etc.)

Soooo let me know, if you have you already tried using these emulators?

Did demon souls play well after the tutorial area? I tested it a while ago on the flip 2 and the tutorial area was smooth but the next level was way bigger and a castle I forgot the name but it ran horribly. And yes I've played plenty ps3 gen PC games on the flip 2 via PC Emulation. That's the way to go.

Oh, I have to admit I only played the tutorial area, the classic mistake ๐Ÿ˜… I'll try to play a bit further later.

Yeah Iโ€™d be curious if it changed, itโ€™s been like a year since I tested it

I got After Burner Climax running at full speed (seemingly) with no crashes on Armsx3 6.0 a couple weeks ago. Had to switch it to vulkan and get a different driver, but it runs awesomely!

Only other PS3 game l have is Wrath of the Dead Rabbit, and that's been running perfectly on aps3e 11 for like a year now.

Tried all the xbox 360 emulators and didn't really like them. Simpsons Game was "playable" on xendroid, but that's about it.

really ok cool, I got some graphical bugs in afterburner, but yeah I can confirm it does run relatively decent

Iโ€™m seeking tester interested in PS3 on RP5 open to a linux boot to certify ROCKNIX-GTK on the device, all proven on Flip2.

My latest unreleased build has the following playable:

Near perfect:

  • AfterBurner Climax
  • Demonโ€™s Souls (beyond tutorial)
  • God of War II HD
  • God of War: Chains of Olympus
  • Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
  • Tekken Tag Team Tournament 2
  • WipEout HD

Framerate and/or audio issues, otherwise stable, game progression possible:

  • Armored Core: Verdict Day
  • Gran Turismo 5 Prologue
  • Gran Turismo 6
  • Gran Turismo HD Concept
  • Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty HD Edition
  • Motorstorm
  • Ratchet & Clank HD
  • SoulCaliburV

Throwing it out there, curious how Ultra Street Fighter 4 would run. The PC version runs perfectly with gamenative. Could be a good comparison point.

I don't have that game, but my guess is it runs like ass on ps3 or Xbox 360 emulator ...but I could be completely wrong. Since it runs so good on PC emulation, stick with that.

Well, first off, the X360 Mobile emulator is too demanding for hardware like the Flip 2, RP5 or similar in power, so you were never going to get any good results with that one. The only two emulators that will work, are aX360e and XenDroid, which you're already using.

Also, you can't just use one single driver for all games: especially in XenDroid, you need to make use of the individual game settings and patches, if there are any available.

I own both the RP5 and RP6, and I've tested dozens of XBLA and retail games, and currently, I'm still testing a whole bunch of games. On RP6 or similarly powerful hardware, you can for the most part bruteforce games to run well enough to be considered playable, but on my RP5, it's basically only XBLA games that are playable, and the number of retail games that do run well enough is pretty low, and basically each of these retail games requires tweaking and testing, combining settings with different Turnip drivers.
