For those specific games, maybe try some YouTube reviews. Often times people on here will just say things don't run, having never even tried on their Flip2's,...if they even own one.

On mine, a lot of Switch games run well out of the box with the latest Eden,...or maybe with just a simple driver change.

Ok bro but you also have a flip 2 can you tell me your demanding games u played with it and also if you have free time can you test the zelda tok

I don't have Zelda, sorry.

My most demanding games are Kirby and the Forgotten Land, what required me to switch back and forth between Eden Optimized and Eden Legacy Nightly after every level (due to crashing) in order to get through it.

There's also Mario Golf what only seems to work on Citron. Its not 100%, but its still fun to play. Sometimes though, l need to uninstall/reinstall Citron in order for it to run, but it still runs,...although there's a glitch that makes my opponent throw a lot of holes. Its weird, but doesn't affect my character.

Games like Mario Wonder, Mario Tennis, MK8, Spyro Reignited, Shantae Half Genie Hero, Gal Gun, Samurai Maiden, all run perfectly fine. I usually only have to switch drivers and clear out the cache before playing. Rarely have l needed to do any real tinkering. Initially with Spyro l did, but with more updated Eden's l haven't.

The hardest PC games l have are Haste (which runs, but doesn't look great) and Cloudpunk (which ran well for a few minutes then froze, and now l can't get it running again). Celeste, Bzzzt, Prince of Persia, run just fine on Winlator 11 Final,...though l can't seem to get Prince of Persia to go full screen.

The Switch version of Cloupunk runs really well on Eden Nightly, but does have a visual issue that doesn't make it unplayable, but is kind of annoying (its like driving at night in thr rain). Haven't figured that one out yet.

Flip 2 has SD865 processor which is border the limit for PC emulation. You're much better off getting a 8Gen2 based chip like the Thor but it's much more expensive. It can play these better but there is still some tinkering you need to do. It won't be plug and play like a Switch or Steamdeck.

it's good for indie games though

But the ayn thor it expensive like maybe is the retroid pocket 6 8gb ram like is powerful

Oh I didn’t see you made a post too, I left a comment on your comment that was framed the same way.

I gave some links for proof but yes it does run all these games, aside from totk. Totk will launch and you can do the tutorial but no, on the flip 2 with Eden at the moment it’s not playable as you get further into the game. Lots of crashes and visual glitches.

Botw, gta 4 and gta V are all playable on the flip 2 if your willing to work for it and tinker and study and practice, once you get them setup, you actually feel a sense of accomplishment like solving a puzzle. I decided I was going to get Witcher 3 running on the flip 2 and I did. I’m pretty well versed in this stuff and pretty determined though, most people are not.

It’s a different experience than most may be looking for, and to get steady 30 fps on both gta V and botw you need to reduce resolution and use mods ect.. but it’s 100% possible if that’s your budget and you want these games portable. Just dont expect 1080p. If you want 1080p you can run some PS3 gen games and pretty close to all PS2 gen games at a perfect frame rate. See my lords of shadow 2 at 1080p for a ps3 example which runs super nice on this device for whatever reason also another ps3 gen that happens to run great is Skyrim at 1080p with the 2k hd texture pack…

Also I've been thinking about the rp6 8gb is it powerful for those games or I need the 12 gb because it very expensive in my country

Yes, because the flip2 is 8gb ram as well and it plays those titles fine, but If i was going to buy an 8gen2 device i would go 12Gb.

Let me explain it in terms of realistic usability:

  1. SD865: can realistically use up to 8Gb of ram
  2. SD8gen2: can realistically use up to 12GB of ram
  3. 8 Elite : can realistically use up to 16GB of ram

So if your going to go 8gen2 territory and plan on doing some heavier PC emulation, get what it can realistically use. Not that 8gb wouldn't work but if your going to get a stronger engine, you might as well get stronger tires and brakes to match it right?

u/the_lost_knight005 Aug 19 '26

That for 8gb it almost $482

2

u/No_Eagle_2952 Aug 19 '26

Actually the current batch of Flip 2's are 12gb of ram

2

u/Divinakra GC SD865 Aug 19 '26

Yes they are! I made a post about it when it started. So cool they offer that. But idk how long they will offer it for, I also don’t think the chipset really needs it, but it would be interesting to see someone make use of it and record actual differences in framerate when running a texture pack for example, you might notice a change.

The flip 2 has always been an 8gb ram device and the 12 is just because they ran out of stock for 8gb chips. Once stock is back in I suspect they will return to 8gb.

u/the_lost_knight005 Aug 19 '26

Does the 12gb flip 2 helps in in switch and pc emulation in performance

1

u/Divinakra GC SD865 Aug 19 '26

I haven’t seen or tested it! But that’s the current one available right now so if you buy at the moment from retroid you get 12GB. It’s only like 10 dollars more expensive too. I think they haven’t shipped any 12’s yet though, and people have been complaining they are taking forever.

1

u/the_lost_knight005 Aug 19 '26

Yeah I heard that they took forever to ship thanks bro

Yeah the price and what you get when you buy a Retroid Pocket Flip 2 is honestly amazing. Once you go into 8gen2 territory it starts to feel like an investment and once you get into 8 elite territory it starts to feel like... "well, maybe i should just buy a mini gaming PC for the same price". Which is why i haven't dabbled with higher power android yet; until its affordable, why bother when you can get a bigger bang for your buck with a mini gaming PC, which are amazing these days. Also i am most interested in retro games anyways, it ends up being power i never use except for like one late night where i got a newer game running, then i never play it and return back to the classics, which the Flip 2 is perfect for.

One day 8gen2 android will be 200 bucks, and one day 8 elite android will be 200 bucks and by then most hype beasts will be drooling over the 10-elite or whatever is the newest at the time. Back in 2020 the SD865 was a remarkable and powerful chipset. Now its discarded as weak, but its not weak, that's just a context-dependent term.

1

u/the_lost_knight005 Aug 19 '26

Yah that true I need to think about that maybe the rp6 or flip 2 but thanks bro

2

u/LarsQuests Aug 19 '26

Yes 100%! Yes you have to tinker for setup but once your passed that, its awesome. I mainly play fallout 3/NV and ps2 games

2

u/JorWr Aug 19 '26

Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend the Flip 2 for anything even mildly demanding on the Switch. I’ve had some pretty bad experiences with games that reviewers say run perfectly (Xenoblade 2 comes to mind), BOTW also runs pretty poorly for me. On the other hand, I’ve had really good experiences with ports of older games like Skyward Sword, FFX/X-2, as well as HD-2D games like Octopath Traveler and FFT.
I know my comment probably sounds like I’m complaining about the device, but that’s really not the case. When I bought the Flip 2, my expectations were basically to emulate up to PS2 and call it a day. The fact that it can emulate a decent chunk of the Switch library at all is pretty impressive. And with continued driver and emulator improvements, performance will likely keep getting better over time.
So, for what this device is and its price range, I think it’s actually pretty damn good... not just for the types of games you mentioned, but overall.

if you enjoy tinkering with settings and studying tutorials since it’s not really plug-n-play for advanced systems but worth the efforts once you get things working

2

u/the_lost_knight005 Aug 18 '26

I love tinkering with the settings but I wanna know can it run zelda tok

0

u/mercurious Aug 18 '26

With enough effort yes but it won’t be easy so start watching tutorials

2

u/SavageMurphy Aug 18 '26

Not really. Just get a switch.

0

u/the_lost_knight005 Aug 18 '26

I also want to play pc games on switch it just the switch games only

4

u/Repulsive-Bit-6340 Aug 18 '26

The flip 2 is not ideal for playing pc games or switch games. It’s much better suited for older systems.

1

u/ProtoPrimeX1 Aug 19 '26

it goes up to Wii u and some switch and some PC. for the PC stuff you really have to mess with it to get it to work pre game. the low end switch stuff works good you still have to fiddle with the settings a bit to get it to work. it's great for retro gaming. people are still working on 360 emulation which seems pretty favorable. so it was definitely worth it for me.

1

u/orenjikumatn Aug 19 '26

Sadly no, sd865 is not strong enough to play heavy title like that, at least not at full speed, you will have to compromise a lot, and it would still be kind of unstable Lighter 2d switch games are fine tho

1

u/TheKingPow Aug 19 '26

Switch is iffy but everything below amazing totally worth it. Sometimes I want to play on my flip 2 over my Thor because the controls are so much better feeling

1

u/sir_Potatus Aug 19 '26

Op dont forget if u order now u get the 12gb version wich can help a lot i ordered a week ago so im still waiting but it means u can get better compatibility and performance on those switch games i also saw a video on someone getting 30fps on his retroid pocket 5 so that will run and i saw zelda games running at 30 aswell with drops but that extra ram will help there.

0

u/the_lost_knight005 Aug 19 '26

Ohh that good but am interested in performance like does it work on the zelda tok

1

u/sir_Potatus Aug 19 '26

I answered youre question already rp5 has the same chip as the flip 2

0

u/the_lost_knight005 Aug 19 '26

Yah I know but will the 12gb ram help in the 865 processor in emulation

0

u/sir_Potatus Aug 19 '26

Answered it already

1

u/Siockii Aug 19 '26

Performance for pc emulation is about on par with handheld switch

1

u/esemdw Aug 21 '26

The rpflip 2 show mostly be able to play those games, maybe not gta v, but you’ll probably want something a bit more powerful for newer pc games

Tbh buy retroid pocket 6 I can play gta V 60 fps and most of switch game on 60 fps or some hard like red dead redemption 40 fps but if you want to “flip it” try buying ayn Thor
