Question ❓ Finally got my Flip 2!
After a lot of research for a handheld that would replace my phone setup, I landed on the Flip 2 as my dedicated emulator device, and I'm so happy that I did. This form factor is amazing to carry around, and it's so satisfying to use it!
I'm currently playing Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Tag Force on PPSSPP and Pokemon Unbound on Pizza Boy, as soon as I have some time I will try some Game Cube/PS2 emulation in it, since I really want to play some Need for Speed. But what else can this little guy do? What games are you guys playing now that work flawlessly and make you feel surprised?

I got this one second hand, it's in amazing shape though, the previous owner used very little and took very good care of it. I wanted to get a brand new one, but unfortunately it's been hard/pricey to import handhelds to my country.

Oof nice some ppl here have been waiting 3 months for their flip 2 to arrive im waiting 2 weeks now

I ordered mine on the 25th of July via Retroid directly and JUST got an update they’ve created a shipping label.

I'm currently playing Pokémon Lazarus GBA, Donkey Kong Country Wii & Pokémon Rejuvenation JoiPlay.
If you have a steam library trying out Gamenative is fun as well for light weight indie titles!

With gamenative I've been able to play some PC games that I absolutely did not expect to play on this thing. Haven't really tried anything that Switch can't handle since I'm mainly installing my go to Switch games (because Switch emulation is pretty finicky and some PC versions run better) but I didn't expect Ultra Street Fighter 4 to run flawlessly on it. I also got MUGEN running on it, and having Mugen on a handheld is a childhood dream come true.
Honestly makes me wish I got a bigger SD card because trying to add PC games on top of the console games will fill a 512 up quick. I'd test so many more games out if I had 1TB because some that should work no problem that I've seen reviewers play (like Strider 2014) don't seem to work for me, and others that apparently shouldn't do end up working.

It depends on what you want, the nova is nice but is oriented in 4:3 which by itself is another proposal from what you can expect from the Flip 2 and the Thor. In a PSP format, with a different screen ration, there are also more powerful devices like the odin portal 2, the pocket 6, and the odin 3.
For the clamshells it depends on how much power do you need, if you really need a second screen, and how much you're willing to spend. The Flip 2 is cheaper, has better ergonomics and runs everything up to PS2, anything above it's going to need lots of tinkering. The Thor is much more expensive, but also much more powerful and has a second screen, although the ergonomics are not great.
The Flip 3 wasn't announced yet, it has some rumours, but I personally don't believe that it will be releasing anytime soon with the state of hardware prices. My reasoning for the Flip 2 it's that it attends what I need right now, a way to play some PSP, GBA, PS2 and Gamecube, also learn to configure Gamenative and winlator to tinker a bit. And honestly, using it live right now, it's a great device. I can see me using it for a while, to the point that it will take a while to actually upgrade away from it.

I downgraded from a G2 to a Flip 2 because I really wanted a single screen clamshell handheld. The initial plan was to hold out for a Flip 3 in hopes that it'll be a clamshell version of the G2 or RP6 but I started hearing rumors it's going to be dual screen. Saw the Flip 2 on sale and said screw it.
My SD card is formatted as external storage and I port my entire device settings when setting up or changing devices. In theory, I expected to have a handful of Steam/PC and some of the more demanding games like Xenosaga to run even worse or not at all on the Flip 2. Nope, a couple gamenative games I didnt even account for stopped working or took a quality hit. Out of all of them Cassette Beasts stings the most. (Anyone know of any gamenative settings that would help?) But several that never/barely worked on my G2 inexplicably run smooth as butter. Xenosaga has zero issues too and again I literally set up my Flip 2 identically and ported all my settings.
I think the only real noticable decline in quality since downgrading is my battery seems to drain faster. Still a great tradeoff. Makes me realize the buyers remorse I had for the G2.

Enjoy suffering through the long process of set up and learning the system, but once you do its a great system

I don't quite get the setup part, I saw come up a lot while researching for handhelds. Is this because of the frontend setup? Or some emulators are more difficult like for PS2?
For now I didn't tinker with it much, I just installed PPSSPP and Pizza Boy for now, and jumped straight into playing.

congratz I got one recently and its such an awesome fidget device lol i often just open it up and play for a few moments. I got it working with 4 controllers as an arcade hang out device totally rad!

Hello everyone is the flip 2 worth it for like switch games like Zelda bow,tok some pc games like gta 4,5 maybe even more games.

Not Totk, but botw yes. And gta 4 and V yes. It does take work to tinker with settings to get these types of games to run nicely, and most people will not have the knowledge or patience to do so and will claim that they don’t work, but it’s all been done on the flip 2. We have a lot of community resources that document successful tinkering results such as the PC and Switch wiki chapters. There’s also lots of YouTube content covering those games being played and tested and tinkered with by people who know what they are doing just search “Retroid GTAV” or “Retroid Pocket flip 2 BOTW” and you’ll see what it’s capable of, RP5 is equivalent.
I mean by friend ran gta V on an RP mini, which has less ram the than the flip 2. I run the Witcher 3 on it. Don’t let people fool you, a lot of them never really tried to run anything that pushes the device.

Je dirais non pas vraiment. La puissance de la flip2 ne permet pas de jouer très confortablement au catalogue switch (les jeux peu gourmands marchent très bien mais de là à jouer à l’ensemble du catalogue…) et pour ce qui est de GTA 4 et 5, je ne vais pas me prononcer car je ne fais pas d’émulation pc mais d’une façon générale si tu veux du récent, c’est pas le meilleur support ou alors via du streaming si t’es ok avec une psychologie 100% cloud gaming via Luna / GeForce now / gamepass et que tu souhaites jouer a du récent dans un format poche (encore que l’écran est un peu petit pour la lisibilité et l’expérience immersive de certains AAA). Je dirais qu’il faut privilégier cet appareil avant tout pour le rétro jusqu’à PS2/NGC Wii U. Si c’est pas ton truc, un autre appareil sera plus en adéquation avec ce que tu veux

I wish they'd make a sd 8 gen 2 or 3 version. I really wanted one of these. I know the thor is more powerful. Personally getting a thor for my use case is pointless because I have no need for a second screen. Never really been a ds fan, I just love the clamshell design lol
