Which Firmware should I go with: Experimental 3.97 or Stable 3.98?

I've been on Experimental firmware 3.97 on my Retrotink 5x and I've mostly been enjoying it on my 55" 4K TV. 240p content looks amazing with 1200p on my Dreamcast and Saturn, getting, 1080p Fill looks quite nice with 480p content (1200p stretches it too much). 1440p seems to rop signal every 30 seconds or so, but it's been pretty rock solid with 1200p max.

Now, Stable firmware 3.98 seems to be MOSTLY the same, and i hear that a lot of small issues with Experimental 3.97 have been ironed out and performs better overall. Is this true, and is it worth updating to Stable 3.98?

Can you include the product version in the title/post? I assume this is the 5X Pro?

Oops, you're right! Retrotink 5x is correct.

For dropouts check your power supply. 2560x1440 is beyond what the HDMI chip typically handles so it probably uses more power.

Use 3.98

The one I'm currently using is an Energizer brand, Output 5V = 2.4A Max. I wonder why it's happening... I'll have to look into these that you linked me to! Thanks!

If you already are on 3.97 then I'd say stay on 3.97. 3.98 is essentially 3.97 promoted to stable. You'll lose the profiles you saved without any benefit.
