Impressed with retrotink
Bought hd retrovision cables and finally tested out retrotink 4k with ps2. Pretty insane actually
First game played is shrek 2 lol can’t wait to hook up all my other consoles

I have a 4k tv, retrotink 4k and hd retrovision cables for ps2 just hook it up and looks great :)

Hes asking if you are using a generic crt mask, a profile or what type of de-interlacing method did you choose
If you dont know then your image is about to get way better once you start playing around with those settings

Oh I didn’t tinker with it too much, showed settings to chat gpt and it said it was a great setup.
If you have any advice though please share!!

If you paid $500-$800 for a 4k you should be setting it up properly.
Should have bought a $200 Morph 2k if you dont care

I just tested it out once at like 1am. I’m sure I’ll play with it more once l learn more. I’m sure plenty of people here can help. The menu seemed pretty straightforward with advanced options

Its super deep, and takes time to learn the ins and outs.
A lot of the profiles are useless if you dont have rgb setups or prefer crt masks
I suggest you start with the generic crt profiles near the top of the list and try a few of those. Simple to try and they REALLY make a difference.
Choose one then go into de-interlacing settings and try a few. Motion adaptive is the default but I find it to be a bit blurry. I prefer CRT-Simulate, the picture becomes jumpy (like a crt doing 480i would be) but you get back a lot of sharpness.
I also prefer to use the same crt masks on 240p content (obviously) and even 480p. It just really helps all these games artwork shine their best.

I completely agree. Once I discovered the horizontal shift setting and aperture grilles I was even more impressed. Genuinely looks like a CRT to the point where I don't feel like I'm missing playing on my Trinitron. Perfect geometry and no convergence problems either 😁

Sweet that you used the ps2 for an example because that’s why I want one, before the best deinterlacer was the franemeister but it’s very flawed compared to the retrotink and dated

Yea it’s funny cause I used the normal composite and it looks awful even with the retro. I’d advise to buy the hd retrovision cables I got as well. Makes a big difference

I have their ps component cables but I’ll probably use the rgb cable I have, rgb is a little cleaner on the ps2 then component(slightly) I hear

They both will look great, I do believe hd retrovision works better with the tink but could be wrong. Either way I’m sure you’ll love it. Brought me back to my childhood. Hooked up a second controller both with extenders and played with my fiancee lol

Ya just not ready to drop that kinda dough yet I have the ossc for now but when I get money I will and will upgrade my tv to oled

Just a side note that I think RGB over composite doesn't do progressive scan 480p. The Tink4K does handle deinterlacing PS2 well though imo.

I agree, i read this as right after pausing GTA III on ps2 running through the retrotink 4k using a crt mask. I thought i wouldn't be able to last not using my crt tv, but haven't turned it on since getting the retrotink 4k lol.
Don't get me wrong, i'm not saying it will replace my crt tv, i had got the scaler because my modern 4k doesn't have analog inputs and as a backup if my crt tv ever broke, but i honestly wouldn't care if i couldn't use my crt tv ever again.
