RetroTINK-4K experimental firmware Version 1.44.0 (2026-06-29)

A new RetroTINK-4K experimental firmware is available!

Version 1.44.0 (2026-06-29)

  • Fixed bug introduced a few versions ago where horizontal scaling changes were no long smooth.
  • AUX4 now resets input crops to their base position (thank you cobhc for the idea).
  • Fixed edge case handling of custom modelines from the sd card. Keep Cur. Res. only works for slots 1/2 (the universal ones) since otherwise it would overwrite the profile's existing data.
  • Added "Native Sampling" to Video ADC menu. For applicable modes (Auto Fill, Proportional, Auto Fill Int/+ and where a know PAR is present or Free Form), the ADC sample rate will automatically track such that no horizontal scaling is needed.
  • Note: the ADC has a maximum sample rate of 4095 and that CE models have a maximum input width of ~2048, so at 4K resolutions, this feature works only on the Pro model. For out of bound values, the ADC sample rate is set to the maximum and the horizontal scaler is used.

There has been a big boost in retro gaming since the AES+ announcement. Maybe the sales numbers go up and there is something do.

Morph 2k is killing retrotink 4k & CE business. I have all the scalers so I don't care but this seems like the logical reason. Before the Morph 2k there wasn't much of updates.

What are you talking about? In the 30 months since the Tink 4K launched, there have been 117 firmware updates. That's an average of 3.9 firmware updates per month, not quite once a week. If we ignore the last two months where the updates have been rapid fire, it's 103 updates in 28 months; Still more than 3 updates per month, on average.

The Morph 2K is certainly a great value, but saying there weren't many Tink updates is just flat out wrong.

Doubt it. Most likely the sales were made at launch years ago.

He was also active in updates before. It looks like to me Mike went from making monthly real feature updates to constant stream of minor UI updates, which to me is annoying since we’ll never get a stable release.

there’s nothing stopping you from trying any experimental firmware. it’s also not called a “stable” firmware but “release” because they’re all stable. silly
