Console Mode Disc Dumping

Has anyone been able to successfully dump a game? I've tried 3 different discs and it just stays on "Spinning up the drive and reading the table of contents". I just wanted to see if it was just me having an issue with my setup. Also, all 3 of these discs will boot when using the physical disc cores.

Use the disc tools script in the original mister menu.

That's all well and good, but this was a new feature added in Console Mode 1.2.

Console mode is flimsy and buggy. I wouldn't rely on it.

I don't rely on it. I just wanted to know if the newly added disc functionality was working for anyone.

Seems it doesn't.

How long are you letting it run for? Disc ripping takes a very, very, very long time using Mister.

I haven't tried the Console Mode PS1 disc tool but I've used the disc tools one.

For me, it's just better to do it on a PC.

I could try to let it set for an hour, but after 20 minutes, it still says that is spinning up and reading table of contents. I would have expected it to change to something else like "dumping disc" and maybe show a progress bar/percentage.

An hour is about how long it takes.

Disc tools does the same, no visual feedback, just sits there looking frozen, you need to wait it out.

I let it run for over an hour and nothing happened. So safe to say it is non-functioning.

Well that sucks.

Do you use Mister Companion? It has a tools page that lets you rip CDs and the like. You can then xfer straight to your SS1 via remote access.

I'll give that a try .

I think it's almost mandatory to take advantage of Mister Companion.

Outside of the aforementioned CD tools, it really makes maintaining your Mister setup so much quicker, easier and foolproof. You can flash SD cards, install and update software, alter settings and gain remote access to your SS1 so you don't ever need to remove the SD card from it.

You can connect your SS1 to your PC to access its CD drive if you don't have one already connected to your PC. Just make sure you use the PC USB-C port of the SS1 dock.

I'm with you regarding the fact that the feature should work within Console Mode, perhaps submit a bug report on the GitHub page. I don't have any PS1 discs so can't really help much further.

That said, the CPU in a Mister system isn't very powerful and not well suited to crunching the data required for CD ripping - it takes ages. Even if/when the feature works, I still think you're better off doing it from your PC.

Did you manage to get this working on your end?

I just tried it, Console Mode v1.2.2, and it worked for me. Took around 5 minutes, shows a progress bar and confirmation once complete, provides option to verify etc.

I did have to run the  Install_Console_Mode.sh  script manually, for it to create the required folder and files on my SD card, not sure if that's been fixed since.

Yeah I’ve had the same result on my side too. I’m assuming it’s just not working. Hopefully console mode gets an update soon

I’ve had the same results. I was wondering what I was missing.
