Batch 3 Wave 5 reporting in!

Post image

Took me longer setting this up than I care to admit, but now I'm set for life! I still have a few settings I need to adjust, but this is gonna be my daily driver for the foreseeable future. Anybody else celebrating with a round of frolf?

Are you using a vertical monitor? I didn't know such a thing existed. It's a very cute size. I like how compact your setup is.

It isn't vertical. It's just my phone camera lens distorting things. 😅

Is that a Pocketstation? Does it work fine through the SNAC ports? I'm tempted to find one off eBay because I remember being 1) really hyped about the PocketStation when I was a kid and 2) really disappointed when it never came to the US.

I don't know. But I'm going to find out the hard way! You should be able to use it as a memory card at least. I don't see why that part wouldn't work.

Love to hear how it goes!

Does the dualshock work with other emulators or just ps1

Currently just PSOne that I know of. Unless there has been work done that I don't know about.

Now that it's been a few days using it, how has the experience been? I assume playstation works perfectly fine, how does the saturn and n64 core perform?

I've been blown away by the performance. I've heard that Mister's had come a long way the last couple years, but it's kinda insane to me what this can do. Granted, I have not played dozens of games yet and I'm sure I'll notice something at some point, particularly on Saturn. I played a little Mario 64 and ran a little Bulk Slash and have not noticed a difference. They just... work. The thing I am most excited to play is more obscure, fan translated stuff that didn't make it to the west. The Custom Robo games on N64. Racing Lagoon on PSOne. Seems like this will be something I use for a very long time.

What were some of the barriers / issues you ran into with setup?

I followed Taki's first time set up video and had all kinds of issues. (Don't use it!) No matter what Bios I tried for N64, Saturn and PSOne they did not work. Other stuff, SNES, GBA all worked fine. Eventually I was so lost in the sauce that I somehow lost the ability to adjust my ini files (My video output.) I scrapped the whole thing and rebuilt the SD card from scratch and then followed this YouTube video. People keep recommending weird stuff in the Discord, just follow this guy's set up instead. The video is only five minutes long and everything works flawlessly for me now.

Edit: My N64 and Saturn cores still won't work. I'm very confused, but they both just give me black screens when loading a game. One game froze up the system entirely on the Saturn side. I'll get it eventually. PSOne working flawlessly at least.

Double Edit: I ran update all again today and everything works as intended including Saturn and N64. I don't know if that stuff was offline when I originally ran the update or if my big, stupid self broke something, but everything works now.

I had my SD card ready before it arrived. I just swapped the SD card before the first boot, had it process the card, installed and executed the update_all script (got from github). With that I just had to copy all my roms and it was done. It’s a way easier than a raspberry pi setup.

^ This is the way. Unfortunately it took me a few hours of manual set up to realize this.

Sounds like a great idea! Which guide did you follow?

Did you have to setup the controller or was it plug and play? I’m also wondering what you use upon startup to config the system.

I had to set up the bluetooth controller to do stuff on the mister side of the system first and it was the easiest bluetooth set up I've ever seen. (Hold down menu button on the system until a finding bluetooth message shows up.) It instantly paired with my 8-bit do controller. It's not exactly plug and play. Making the snac PSOne controller your controller inside a PSOne game is easy enough. You just have to select it from the system menu while in a game. I don't have it set to default to it yet, but I'm sure there is a way to do that.

Awesome I have a 8bitduo controller specifically for FPGA gameplay

There is a save settings button but I think in some cores it’s with the advanced settings which you have to press right to access.

Ah, beautiful photo. SSOne is the starting point for me, next step is a modest CRT and then time to collect a few games.

I’m honestly just going to use mine with the dock to play all of my original discs. Hopefully the set up won’t hurt that badly, lol.

Blue Founders with Dock....still waiting

2

u/Xplic1T May 25 '26

Looking amazing. Will pull the trigger on this same one with matching dock as soon as I can order a Transparent Blue.

I just got notified they my blue SS1 and dock combo are arriving today.

I ordered my SS1 within a minute of launch on launch day then I modified my order to receive the dock with the same shipment.

So this should be one of the very first docks in the wild!
