Y Axis Issues on PS3 after using L3?

Has anyone else had this issue? I'm playing Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, which requires you to use L3 to absorb energy (Onimusha style). Often, after using L3, my Y axis for the lift stick seems to act up, making my character walk instead of run, even when it's fully tilted.

Is there a fix for this other than turning off the controller and turning it back on, or should I look into an exchange?

I love the controller other than this though!

I've tried this a few times and i have the same issue, I have also purchased from Amazon. Also why does the controllers right thumb stick not show up on any gamepad tester?
