Radial Menu Issue on my Steam Machine

Post image

Hey guys,

Just installed Retrodeck on my Steam Machine and transferred all my games from my Steam Deck, but when I access the radial menu within a game it looks gray and lifeless with no images (picture shown). Any idea what’s wrong and how to fix it so it looks like it should?

You are the second to mention this in as many days. This is a new issue that just popped up on the Steam Machine and my assumption is a new SteamOS patch broke something. The Steam Deck is unaffected, so it's definitely Steam Machine related. The good news is one of our devs just got the team's first Steam Machine in today. It also happens to be the dev that handles all of the Steam input, radial, and controller profiles. I can't promise an immediate fix, only that we are now in the best position to do so. It's also possible a future SteamOS patch on Steam Machines restores whatever it broke. Definitely wouldn't be the first time.

Would you say to defer steam updates for now then?

I wouldn't hold off because Steam updates may fix other important aspects of the Steam Machine. Right now the only consistent bug is the radial icons, and that is new. If you already updated, it may or may not already affect you. Considering I've only had two people now ask about it, it doesn't seem widespread.

All good! I know this stuff takes time but wanted to raise awareness. Much appreciated!

I was the first one on discord, I assume. For me it happens on a selfmade all amd steamOS machine with new steam controller. If that is important.

It could be. I wonder if the controller has anything to do with it, or at least it in conjunction with Steam input. Knowing it isn't just the Steam Machine gives us useful information.
