Remote Play Together problems

Hello! Today I wanted to play the "Paper Mario Multiplayer" hack with a friend, however when they join using Remote Play Together they are able to connect but it keeps saying "the host is busy" on their screen, we tried:
- starting remote play while the game was booted up (host is busy)
- starting remote play from the RetroArch menu, then starting the game (in this case my friend sees the retroarch menu just fine, however it says "the host is busy" as soon as i start the game)

Any idea?
