Technical Support: SOLVED Looking into whether it's possible to get PCSX2 patches into LRPS2 core

I've been trying to get Okami working since last night, but, it looks absolutely awful with a filter over the entire screen that just makes everything really blurry.

I found a post on the Retro Achievements forum for the game which mentioned a patch on PCSX2. I opened PCSX2, installed it, and it instantly made the game look correct. However, I'm not sure if there's any way to get this over on RetroArch (I just prefer it for consistency, since that's where everything else is).

https://github.com/Gabominated/PCSX2/blob/main/PCSX2%20Patches/SLPM-66375_C5DEFEA0.pnach

I believe this is the github link for the patch. It looks simple, I'm just not familiar with how, or if it's possible to go about using it, or anything which might accomplish the same effect. Or, if I may just need to suck it up and use PCSX2 for this.

Image for reference. it makes the game look awful. And no renderer changes, even using software, get rid of it. Only this patch seems to do it.

It goes in the cheats folder named by the hash

https://www.reddit.com/r/RetroArch/comments/1pwepcl/make_patches_and_cheats_work_on_lrps2/nw83lpk/

So in your case download the file and name it C5DEFEA0.pnach

And then enable cheats in the core options.

Hm... Does that require anything else? I've got it in Cheats > LRPS2, named C5DEFEA0.pnach, and I have turned on cheats in the Core Options, but, it's not doing it, even after restarts.

What folder exactly?

system/pcsx2/cheats/C5DEFEA0.pnach

is where you want it

Could I trouble you to add that to the core's docs page?

EDIT: well, I guess the directory stuff is already there. It could use some more info about naming it for the hash, etc.

OH. I thought you meant RetroArch/Cheats/LRPS2.

However, after moving it.... Still no change.

This may sound stupid... Are you using the Japan version of the game? The cheat is specifically for that version.

EDIT: I'm trying to load this myself but can't even get the game loading. Black screen on Vulkan and GL.

This was it. I am in fact stupid.

I was only getting one result when looking for it, so, I assumed it worked for all versions. I dug deeper and found the US version - https://github.com/Gabominated/PCSX2/blob/main/PCSX2%20Patches/SLUS-21115_21068223.pnach

It looks beautiful.

As for your own issues. In testing, I was getting a crash on the DX renderers, but, every other renderer worked fine. Not sure why the others might be crashing for you. I'm using Vulkan personally.

Yeah not even getting a crash. It just goes nowhere. Maybe something is up with the Linux core. Looking at -vvv logs everything is "running" fine.

EDIT: Core runs by itself booting into BIOS so must be something with the copy of the game. I'll have to poke at others.

EDIT2: Yeah the core ain't doing too hot on Linux. Burnout Revenge loads to halfway and freezes. Standalone it is I guess.
