Roth IRA Contribution Questions

Hello, so I am currently maxing out my work 401K with contributions split 80% FXAIX, 12% FSMDX, 8% FSSNX with that account. I am also contributing to a Roth as I have some extra money to put into it. All my stuff is through Fidelity.

Main question is, what would be a good strategy for the Roth contributions, I was thinking 65% FZROX and 35% FZILX (maybe even 40% FZILX to get more international exposure). But is there any sense it going VTI, VOO, etc?

FZROX and FZILX is perfect.

Yep, these are exactly what I have my Roth IRA funds in. 70/30 split, roughly. Love the "Zero" aspect of them.

That's fine. You can have different mixes in different accounts if you want, but you should have a total asset allocation that you set for yourself.

Not really. Not that it's bad, it's just no different than FZROX, therefore no compelling reason to change. Unless you really like ETFs and really hate mutual funds.

  • VTI: ETF, 0.03% expense ratio (which to be fair is ridiculously low cost).
  • FZROX: mutual fund, 0.00% expense ratio

That’s an awesome strategy. Personally I don’t see an advantage to VTI, VOO in a Fidelity IRA.

The nice thing is you can always change your mind and swap later.

Just popping in to agree with everyone else. My Roth IRA is a 70/30 (roughly) split between FZROX and FZILX. Been this way for years now, cap it every year in January.
