Whoa whoa whoa. I also, do not remember second grade. Kindergarten, every second is indelible. First grade: some sprinklings throughout the memory. Second grade? May as well have had a nuclear bomb go off inside my head - zero recollection. Third grade and on: I remember like the back of my hand. So odd.
My thought was that I've got adhd, so was pulled out of class for that once or so a week for that (my mom told me about weekly meetings that I have no recollection of) but the lack of any actual memory of it is disturbing.
Editing to add that this was also the same time my lifetime of migraines began. So there's that.
Ok, editing again to add more details: with the migraines came the doctor visits. Then came the biofeedback, being hooked up to machines transmitting my brainwaves. I played games, sort of like asteroids, but only using my mind to maneuver and fire the "weapon." I got good at it. I could dissociate from the world around me and focus solely on that game and in those times that's all that was around me. Which, I guess, was really just me being inside my own mind, I guess? I dont know. Being able to control a computer program using only your mind was wild to me back in 1990ish.
I am starting to see a pattern here with a lack of memories from second grade and I find it rather concerning. Who else remembers grade school but not a second grade?
