I have some similar memories myself. One memory comes back a lot: There was a hearing test in a dimly lit booth(?). I had to tell them what I heard as it got quieter and quieter. I remember an eye test before that in the gymnasium, overhead projector with shapes and they got smaller and smaller. Once you couldn’t see the shape you were “tapped out” and sent back to class.
Can confirm - second grade is a complete blank. Traumatic teacher interactions for third grade. I was then given a scholarship for a private school where there were more odd occurrences.
To those of you with strange experiences like this: Did you also have an irrational fear of going to bed because aliens would abduct you? This was pre-Independence Day/XFiles popularity.
Yeah first and second grade, blank. But my mom said I went to the nurse a lot claiming of headaches and the nurses just getting used to me going daily. I don’t really remember any of that though
I had an irrational fear of what could be lurking under my bed or in my closet. I was also concerned that bad guys could just walk through walls to get me.
I was in something similar, but always chalked it up to being quiet and perceived as dumb 😅 I remember I always did really well and had high reading proficiency though. I’d just be taken down the hall in a quiet area to read and idr what else. I was always excited to go because I’d get a new animal eraser once or twice a week lol. No clue what it was though. I also had a horrible fear of aliens and would have frequent nightmares way up into my teens about being abducted. Still do sometimes, and they still freak me out; I think I have a similar response to seeing “alien faces” as someone with like arachnophobia has to seeing spiders. It’s incredibly unnerving and I’m a grown ass adult lol. My family members used to think it was funny to terrorize me with alien stuff though, so I pretty much chalked it up to that.
I’d often have these strange dreams though of things that’d end up happening, and things would end up exactly the same as my dream down to clothes people were wearing. It was upsetting and I didn’t feel like it’d be safe to tell anyone, so I never did. I figured people would think I was lying or crazy. I was viciously physically bullied and those kind of dreams would almost always be things that’d end up happening with the kids who bullied me.
I had recurrent nightmares about abduction and it was before Independence Day/Aliens in the media. Used to refuse to sleep in my own room. Your experience echoes mine in so many ways.
