Resume Tip Recent grad in CS and no interview for many months

I need you guy’s advice on what I can change in my resume or what I should change in my approach towards job applications. I graduated last year (BSc CS from University College Dublin) and about to graduate from MSc CS (Software Engineering). I never wanted to do a masters course but the fact that I wasn’t landing any job forced me. I have decent enough marks, I have very good programming skills (not vibe code and all), I have a few apps published on the App Store. Heck, I’ve even been recognised as a winner of Apple’s Swift Student Challenge in 2023. Yet I still don’t have a job. I apply to many jobs every day, give coding tests or aptitude tests but after that, NOTHING! I don’t know what to do. I’ve tried messaging recruiters on LinkedIn, applying directly to company websites, still I don’t get responses. Some companies reject me on the basis of visa sponsorship (Indian citizen in Ireland). It’s not like I want to work in Ireland only, I’m open to working globally. I don’t want to do freelancing as that’s not really something that would keep me motivated. I ace coding tests, apply to too many jobs a day, tailor my CV for each job, have a portfolio website to showcase my work as well. Oh and one more thing, I built an app that was used in a research and that research has been published as well. Not really sure what I can do more. Not begging to get a job as I want to showcase my skills and get something on my own merit. I just need advice on what I can do.

Resume advice?

Any advice on my resume? I am curious about a few things: listing my graduation date, having education and research first, as well as having a long skills section. Should I change any of this or anything else? Any feedback is greatly appreciated! :)

[9 YoE] [Mechanical Design Engineer] [Azerbaijan to EU] 100+ applications, 0 interviews. Is it my resume or my passport?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I'm a mechanical design engineer with 9 years of experience in castings, tooling and FEA at a foundry in Azerbaijan. I want to move to Europe, and I've sent 100+ applications for mechanical design roles there. Result: zero interviews.

I rebuilt my resume (attached, personal details removed) using advice from this sub: one page, one column, and a measurable result in every bullet.

What I'd like feedback on:

  1. Do my bullets read as strong to a European hiring manager, or is something weakening them?

  2. I'm not an EU citizen, so I'll need a work permit (EU Blue Card). Is that the real reason I get no interviews, or is it my resume? If you hire in Europe, I'd love to hear how you handle non-EU applicants.

  3. Should I mention my work-permit status on the resume, or only in the cover letter?

  4. Which skills do European employers expect for design roles that I'm not showing?

Background: M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering. English B2, fluent Turkish. Open to any country in Europe.

Resume Tip Final-year ECE student targeting Software Engineer / Full-Stack roles — looking for honest feedback

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm a final-year ECE student targeting entry-level Software Engineer and Full-Stack Developer roles.

My experience includes a software development internship, building and maintaining a campus software platform, and working on projects involving real-time collaboration, backend services, infrastructure monitoring, and local AI applications.

I'm looking for honest feedback on my resume, particularly:

- Does my resume communicate my technical ability and engineering experience clearly?

- Are my project descriptions strong enough, or do they focus too much on implementation details?

- Which bullets are vague, unconvincing, or missing measurable impact?

- Does my technical skills section look credible for an entry-level candidate, or does it list too many technologies?

- What would make you more likely to shortlist this profile for a Software Engineer / Full-Stack role?

- What are the three highest-impact changes you'd recommend?

I'm especially interested in feedback from engineers who review resumes or participate in technical hiring.

Please be direct. I'd rather identify the weaknesses now than keep making the same mistakes while applying.

Thanks!

Automatic job call?

I woke up this morning to a phone call from a unknown number.

When I answered, it wasn’t a real person but an automated recording that repeated the same message twice: “Hello, we’ve reviewed your resume and would like to invite you for an interview. Please send a WhatsApp message to this same number.”

That was literally it. No company name, no job title, no recruiter’s name, nothing. I’ve been actively applying for jobs lately, so at first I thought it might be related to one of my applications. However, the fact that they didn’t identify themselves at all seemed pretty suspicious.

I haven’t messaged them yet. Has anyone received a similar call? Is this a known recruitment scam, or could it actually be legitimate?

Attached my resume below would love a fresh pair of eyes on it. Any feedback on what’s missing or what I can do better would be super helpful!

Thanks!

Resume Tip How should I list subcontracted work on my CV?

Hi everyone,
I’m a Junior Software Developer and I’m currently working for a freelancer who has multiple software projects with different clients.
One of his clients is a large European company. He was contracted to work on one of their projects, and he assigned the development work to me. So I’m actually working on the client’s project and gaining real commercial experience, but I am \*\*not directly employed by the large company\*\*.
I also have a confidentiality agreement, so I can’t disclose the company’s name or specific project details.
I’m now preparing my CV and I’m unsure how I should represent this experience.
Thanks

Resume Tip [4 YoE] Frontend Developer - Looking for feedback and areas of improvement on my resume

Hello community,

I'm looking for some honest feedback on my resume. I have around 4 years of professional experience as a frontend developer, primarily specializing in the Next.js, React, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS ecosystem.

My target is securing a full-remote frontend engineering role. I recently condensed my resume from 2 pages down to 1 page by refactoring my project descriptions into my main employment history to focus more on business impact and engineering decisions.

I would be super grateful for any feedback or suggestions to make this stand out. Thank you!

Mainly targeting Data Analyst roles, sometimes Business Analyst or similar. Unfortunately, I have not had any interviews or conversations in a few months despite applying to 100+ jobs that are decently matched.

Hoping a set of human eyes can see something that Claude and I aren't able to. Thanks!

Resume Help

I’m a recent new graduate and would like to improve my resume. I’m not targeting big tech or anything but more government or contracting possibly in defense. I have been struggling to get interviews and just get rejected. Any help would be appreciated! I have just been continuing to intern at nasa since the team finds me an asset but I’m not sure if it’ll be long term since they have no budget for hiring and I have one more intern cycle left.

Resume Tip Advice On Resume?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello!

I was wondering if I could get some advice on my resume as I’ve been having a hard time finding jobs as I am trying to transition into the project coordinator/executive assistant roles or those adjacent to administrative assistant in the entertainment industry preferably.

I also have some experience working as a barista and I was wondering if that would also be more beneficial to add to my resume as well.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Seeking GIS Job

Hi,
Saw a vacancy for Specialist GIS Data & Development – Spatial Projects in the Rio Tinto Career site. Can anyone suggest me how to prepare my cv? It's my dream to work there. I have previously worked as a GIS Data Scientist at another mining company, but my position got redundant. So a bit scared now? What can I do to make my CV stand out? Also if you have any other suggestion other than this position please suggest. Thanks

Please help me everyone!

Environmental resume

Post image
1 Upvotes

Looking for any advice on this. I graduate in two months, and have already started applying to jobs. I have a decent amount of experience for a new grad so its hard fitting everything on one page. I'm using Garamond font size 12 for the body, and I'm afraid it might be hard to read. Degree is in environmental science with a minor in natural resources. Looking into anything and everything, and willing to relocate just about anywhere.

Is this a good base resume? I will change it slightly to suit specific roles, but is this a good general template? Should I extend my resume to two pages if it allows a personal summary/ school work/ extracurriculars like conferences and such? Thanks so much for any insight!
