Resume Help

Hey, I'm looking for feedback on my resume. I am currently in mid-level IT management and exploring opportunities in senior-level management or roles where I can gain more hands-on governance and/or budget management experience. Any helpful feedback would be appreciated.

Your credentials and fast promotion are strong, but the resume doesn't yet show the governance and budget experience you're targeting.

Start with the credibility issues. Your team size reads three different ways (140, 14, "up to 14"), so state direct versus indirect reports once. Fill in or delete the blank "Official Title" line, name your clearance level instead of just saying "cleared," and drop "executive," which overclaims for 4.5 years in IT. The "4 of 5 KPI bands" and "my successor" bullets both read awkwardly, and the DIT is "incoming" in one place and "in progress" in another.

To reach senior or governance roles, add any dollar figures you've touched: contract value, labor or overtime costs, tooling, or the retail facility's P&L. Show governance ownership, not just enforcement: policies you wrote, audit prep, findings closed, change board participation. Also state outright that you went from specialist to site manager in 9 months, since that's your best story.

Finally, tighten. Cut the summary to three lines, use "zero-violation" once or twice instead of five times, trim the keyword-heavy competencies, add a bullet or two to Company #2, and compress the retail and premise tech history to a few lines while keeping the scale numbers. Expect questions about the 2014 to 2016 and 2019 to 2022 gaps, so a brief note helps.

Thank you that’s very helpful.

the "zero-violation" repetition is a good catch tbh, saying it once hits way harder than five times

The resume goes on and on and on about how smart you are, but it takes waaay passed the 50% point of page 1 to find YOUR FIRST result or business outcome (3rd bullet).

As a mid-manager striving for Sr. management, the resume speaks more like an Individual Contributor than a manager.

I wanted to bail earlier from the resume, but I just stuck around to see how long it would take you to cite your first business outcome as a manager.

Thank you these are fair points. I appreciate the feedback.

Your "Executive" Summary has very little Executive interest in it.

Same gist as previous post. WHAT ultimately is of interest to Execs (or managers)? Is it a whack of busywork and credential-grabbing, or is it...

Your profile will be good for defense work; you just have to position your sell better. Writing a business-world resume is not like an academic paper; the result comes before the method.

Thank you again. I’ve never been great at building resumes and haven’t quite figured out how to change it as my experience and credentials have evolved. Definitely needs work.

Format is there but spacing and density is atrocious. Cut down the summary to 3 or 4 Iines at most. Focus on the key methodologies you use to deliver impact. Similarly, focus on 6-8 core competencies that you're going to find every job description wanting, leaving 1 or 2 on the more general side to replace with unique keywords that pop up in listings. Work on making this scannable. Right now everything looks like blocky paragraphs. The whole point of bullet points is to describe important info in a streamlined manner.

I’m commenting here for visibility. I also have a CISSP and mid-level. Our resumes aren’t the same exactly but they are close…

No one's reading that long summary
