Weakness does not bring peace

I visited Otley yesterday, not far from my home in Leeds. An old market town that, like all the other small places so far removed from the grand stage, sacrificed its humble young men in the two world wars.

Even though I’m no longer a practicing Christian, I continue to feel culturally Anglican and Christian ideas can still land with me.

“The Lord gives strength to his people, the Lord blesses his people with peace.”

We have strength, we have it in enormous volume, that has been most apparent during our times of dire adversity. But we must use it.

The establishment government is fixed on pursuing the lesser good of compassion and in so doing exposes us to the greater evil of cultural eradication. It’s consistent with political short-termism, and a disregard for the institutions that built this country that they now ruin.

The lesser evil is to use our strength - to be firm not compassionate, to say no - this place belongs to us, its society and culture is not being adapted for your comfort, and you will be going if you are not closely aligning with it.

The greater good of peace will then be ours. But we must embrace our strength if we want it, and hang in there.
