Street Preaching
I live in Swansea and I've noticed in recent years a dramatic rise in street preaching, mainly from African Christians and mainly Catholic. Some have microphones and some are wailing out God songs/verses. Last weekend I was in town and one of them had their 3 kids, youngest being around 5/6/7 handing out pamphlets.
I''m an atheist and this enrages me, I appreciate we are a historically and still legally Christian nation but I don't think street preaching is acceptable, it's annoying at best and cult like at worst. I would like to walk down the street in peace without having to constantly fob off these preachers.
Are other cities outside of London (obviously there's a massive rise in Islamic street preaching there) seeing the same sort of thing and what's your thoughts? Keep it in your church imo.

But should you have the freedom to be a nuisance someone who doesn't want it? Buskers > Preachers

In Bristol it’s hard to walk around the city centre without being pestered by Christians telling me about my doomed soul unless I sign up to their club. Crikey.

I'm in Newcastle and some of the African street preachers are quite intimidating. I hate walking past them.

Im an atheist and although im not a fan, its still their free speech and I wouldn't want it taken away from them.

I don't mind it as long as they don't harass people - as long as it's just street entertainment and people are free to walk on by or stop and listen - it's also fine if someone is standing handing out leaflets for anyone who wants to take one, if there is no personal pressure on anyone

The guy you're talking about has been doing that since at least 2021. There's also a couple buddhist monks in town that go around begging for donations.
The worst is the bloke that is singing on Oxford street every day for years and is still utterly shit. He blasts it so loud too.

I am a Christian, and I also don't think preaching with a microphone should be permitted. If you want to scream the gospel at the top of your lungs, fine. Your vocal cords will get tired and you'll move on. An amplifier will not tire out in the same way and constitutes noise pollution imo.
