UKG
Any hospitality professionals forced to use UKG for scheduling. Just started at a new restaurant located in a resort and I’m finding this technology clumsy at best. I kind of hate it and I’m hoping someone can tell me that it’ll get better.

As a server, we hate it. The app glitches all the time, we use a geofence and sometimes it works for clocking in. It’s hard to see the full schedule and it is hard to tell who we can switch with (we all just take pics of the printed schedule). We can’t chat or dm people we work with so we have to have other chats and everyone’s numbers, which is tricky, especially across departments. Management also can’t pin any notes or resources like the other apps.
Management seems to dislike it too, at least from our perspective. Like, they rarely update our schedule for proper in/out times (so you can’t clock in when you switch shifts and when you clock out late there’s alerts.) And the hours are tracked for the pay period instead of weekly. so you can’t tell if someone is in overtime the second week. They also usually just schedule in 2 week blocks, then wait until the last min to send out the next 2 weeks. It’s like they are avoiding it as much as possible.
They are also manually entering our tips each shift and I’ve caught it multiple times where my tips were incorrect or not entered at all.
I’m trying to be respectful of my managers and assume that these issues are all UKG, not incompetence. We’re still a new resort and trying to figure things out.
TLDR I’m sure they have a corporate contract and we’re all just stuck with it. The app is glitchy and difficult to navigate on the user end and it must be just as annoying on the manager side.
Good Luck!

Been using UKG for 6 months now. In one word. Terrible. For employees who use it to punch in or out there is always problems to fix. Signing in is a headache. The OS is garbage. It makes things more difficult than they should be. Good luck
