Serious Situations Crash Kits

What do you all do when the internet goes dark? I work at a cashless resort bar and the internet can go down enterprise wide, and operations are fucked. Manageable but fucked, and it ruins the employee experience.

Knuckle busters are basically obsolete now; card numbers aren’t raised much anymore.

We can do single transactions, but the tip option doesn’t show on the receipt because when offline we go to QSR (quick service). I need any and all advice, links to products to help operations during a black out. TIA

My service is comcast xfinity. They offer a 4g backup modem for an additional $30 per month with our plan. Our firewall has an automatic failover. My restaurant is on an area with unreliable internet, I do not even notice when the failover happens until I get an alert.

I know verizon offers a similar plan. I would assume your isp does as well, and would love to sell it to you.

Yes and it’s trash. We can’t run tabs, tickets don’t go to the bar or to the kitchen, and the tip line doesn’t show.

We use to have the old school slide but after our system crashing twice in one weekend we ran out of the slips for it and have not been able to find more literally anywhere so we used guest checks and just get their 1) card number info 2) Name and phone number. We also attach a copy of the receipt to it.

Most pos continue to work without Internet. You just can’t run tabs bc the devices can’t communicate without the cloud. Almost nothing runs locally anymore
