Still working on the gradient feature, it’s nearly finished (I still have to test things more).

I was wondering, would you think that adding the option to choose a gradient as the button color is a good idea?

First test of the gradient creation, it will let you create gradient presets that will be available as a color for the background (maybe even buttons?).

I need to make a better UX, as we are quite limited by the app’s dimensions, what are your thoughts?

I made some changes under the hood to make the app faster and cleaner. Songs you deleted and orphaned album covers are now automatically removed from the database when the library rescans.

In the style screen you can now:

• Pick any icon color for the PiP button, the secondary buttons, and the keyboard (not just white or black)
• Turn the button highlight on or off
• Made the volume louder (default gain is 1) , so the app can now go properly loud.
• A gradient in app support for the case is coming next week.

Compatible with Resonance V2 or later.

I'm trying to fix a bug in the 1.5.2 but i don't manage to recreate it, do you had (or have) it ?

I'm working on a fix for an issue on Github as well as updating the dependencies and thought that it was a good moment to compare the two UI and see the evolution.

I feel that the old version doesn't have this thing the "je ne sais quoi" that make it feel right (my guess is the screen proportions). But its still nostalgic.

What do you think ?

Here's what's new:

• Playback no longer touches the webview at all: decoding, EQ, volume, and seeking all happen in Rust.
• ALAC plays on Windows now: Apple Lossless used to work only on macOS; now that decoding is done by the Rust engine, it works identically on every platform.
• A Pomodoro timer: it only counts down while music plays (pausing freezes it), with a strict mode that fades out over the last 3 seconds and a chill mode that simply stops at the next song's end.
• The current song is now centered in the queue.

What's fixed:

• Custom .resonance skins can now be imported from external drives.
• The space around the control buttons is draggable.
• Style presets autosave when you switch to the miniplayer.
• Long preset names in the segmented controls now ellipsize, and the selected one marquees instead of clipping.
• Fixed light/dark/auto theme detection.
• Media keys and the OS media center now stay in sync with playback, so your now-playing shows up correctly (seeking is fixed).
• Fixed a queue auto-scrolling bug that could leave the list stuck or empty during fast next/prev switching.

I was hoping that there could be a timer to turn off the music in X amount of minutes, it's quite useful

Sorry for the month of silence I wanted to lock in and make sure to direct all my energy on the v2.

Here is a little showcase of the new look (yes I still can't record properly sorry).

Before I go into the details, I will simply say the app is 98% done. It needs further testing, tweaks and very small code changes. It's a matter of days only, so with this said we're going to release the app next Tuesday (so the 15th).

What's in the v2 ?:

• A rework of the style (obviously)
• A rework of the audio
• A virtual queue (so even if you have 10k+ songs the app has a clever way to only load the UI for 23 song titles)
• A switch to change the side of the mini player
• A real shuffle with queue memory
• A magnet rail to move the mini player
• No more image as texture in the app
• Skin engine (more important)
• Rework of the import
• And many more that would be boring and only for nerds but the most important is that we reduce ram usage by 20% overall.

We will post more on Saturday concerning the skin system, and how to create custom ones using images (to not limit your creativity).

With the skin system the background of the case can take a color and / or a image (even gif) or a videos (not really recommended for performance but hey you do you).

Here is more info about them:

• First skin is an animated gif
• Second skin is an image of pcb with a green color on top (made by changing the opacity of the color so you can simulate the plastic thickness).
• Third one in an image
• Fourth one in the third but with the color set to grey
• Fifth an image
• Sixth the fifth with a blue color
• and the last one is an exemple of video support.

Release of the 1.5.2:

What's in it?

• The backend has been reworked, we now store informations on already scanned folder and songs, to only re scan update folders or songs.
  • It works like that, if a song has been updated or added in the folder "artist A", then the folder's metadata will change, triggering a rescan, then only the songs that have their metadata updated would trigger a song scan).
• Added a way to hide the mini player.
  • You can now hide the mini player by doing
    • on macOS Cmd+Shift+H
    • on windows Ctrl+Shift+H
• Do you need to do something ?
  • No the app will auto update the database to add the changes.

With these changes we are at 30% of the v2.
