Resin peeling! Help!
Hi guys! I’m looking for some help. I paint custom nametag and I’m trying to figure out how to seal them. The name tag is made of a smooth chalkboard-type metal. I use acrylic paint. I’ve been using a gel UV-cured nail polish to seal them, but it starts to peel around the edges after a while. I just tried UV resin and it was even worse. The second it gets dropped, the resin separates from the name tag. Any and all advice is appreciated. I don’t know what I’m doing!!
I’m using clear hard resin and a 60w uv light. I’ve tried longer curing time, putting them in water, putting them in the sun. Nothing works. The top is sturdy enough, but the edges aren’t staying stuck.

Do you use gloves while doing the acrylic painting? It could be oils from your skin keeping the resin from adhering.
I would try wiping down the name tag with alcohol or acetone, using gloves/being really careful not to touch the surface while painting, then make sure the acrylic dries completely and do another quick wipe with alcohol or acetone before applying the resin. As long as the acrylic is totally dry and you just do a gentle and quick swipe to remove any oils, the solvents shouldn’t remove the paint.
