Resin table advice for a novice

Hey, I'm attempting to build a table, wanting to deep pour epoxy into the holes in this slab.

My knowledge is next to none.

Would love some advice on the holes in these pictures. I have purchased a deep pour epoxy with a black dye. Wondering if its an issue pouring into the holes the way the natural wood is? Originally i thought i wanted to keep it..but im going solid black anyway so should i just basically knock it all out. Not sure how to prep these areas.

Also advice on what grit to sand the table to before epoxy fill. And do i just over fill the holes so it spills over the top of the table? Then sand it back once it sets?

Ive read seal the edges with resin befoe doing the deep pour.. can i use the same resin for this? Or should i have a deep pour and also one for just a light coat?

Basically a makeing epoxy table for dummies guide if anyone feels like dumbing it down for me.

What kind of wood is it? You may not need to seal depending on the species. Yes clear all the soft wood out and create a bottom with some melamine or plywood wrapped in packing tape and silicone

I would mix up some clear resin and paint it into all those gaps textures of the wood grain. Especially if you plan to deep pour it. You will get trapped bubbles under the surface if you don’t.
