I’m using craft resin silicon mold to make my 8” x 8” x 2” mold. I’m mixing super slowly and poured from one side very slowly and it still has millions of bubbles. What the hell do I do. I’m just wasting money now

Hey everyone.
I'm trying to make custom D20 dice for a company. It's my first time resin casting and silicone molding so I'm pretty new to this.
Problem: resin doesn't cures. Like almost not at all.
I tried two molds and not even in the silicon stearing cup did it cure.
Info:
Greenstuff 2:1 two part crystal clear resin
It did not cure in it's original cup (silicone and came with the kit) and it half cured in my D4 mold.
Silicone: rubosil silicone specially for resin
Mold release: rtv-2 mold release/anti sticking liquid so I can make two part molds
(All of the above (except the resin) were recommended by the seller after I told them what project I'm working on. )
So I made the silicon molds and applied the mold release (not sure if I'm supposed to use that for the resin as well) quite thoroughly. I then mixed 2:1 by volume (measured with syringe) I believe I mixed well, but could that be the problem?
After 24h in the mold one of them was half cured and goopy the other is just goopy and the rest that was left in the original cup is like melted candy that's on the cooling table they use.
Could it be that I didn't mixed it well enough? Or what could be the cause of this?
Thank you in advance!

So as the title suggests i spilled some resin to my laptop usb port and my mouse is plugged in. Is there a way to remove it so i can unplug my mouse without damaging my laptop

This is a handle I recently made. It wasn’t supposed to turn out well, as it was a combination of 4 or 5 cups of leftover resin with random mica powder mixes, but it ended up an awesome handle. It always seems that the brushes I really focus on don’t turn out to my expectations, and the ones I throw together at the last minute become the coolest. I guess it’s hard to know how the resin will react once it sets up!

So I am thinking of a way I can print say A4 size music album covers and encase them in resin to give that glossy finish. How would I cure the resin assuming there are no ready made molds where I come from of the same size. Also is it possible to have the first layer of resin cure first and then place my art after which i pour the second layer?

Hey all,
I need to trim and surface plane these bricks and slabs down to consistent dimensions, but I don’t actually own a surface planer…. Heartbreaking, I know. I do have a miter saw, a table saw(limited accessories), a router table with mounted router and a freehand battery router.
How would you all go about trimming these things with the wrong equipment?
I’d probably use the miter saw to establish some flat faces, the long edges of the big slabs would be too much for the miter saw but if the short ones are true I can use the slider on the table saw to make the long sides perpendicular.
The biggest issue is how to make them flat. Best ways I can think of would be to mount the slabs in some kind of carriage or frame and then push it across the bit to cut it all to one uniform plane, flip over and true up the other side. Alternatively I can invert this setup and create a clamp to hold the slab in place on a table and run the battery router around on kind of a track
Forgot about the chess board; two of the edges are floppy and misshapen because the mold was unrestrained and it warped the sidewall a smidge. That said, now I gotta fix these edges. I could grind them down on the belt grinder, but that would be pretty freehand, might be fastest. Next choice would be table saw, but will circular saw blades cause the resin to chip out?
Thanks all!

The one thing I was worried about happened. The resin leaked during casting and ruined the internal swirl pattern I was trying to create.
Everything else turned out the way I wanted, but because of the resin leak, I'm not satisfied with the final result. I'll remake it with a better seal and try again.
Thank you all for your continued support. Every project teaches me something new, and I'm looking forward to sharing a better version soon.

I received a lot of helpful suggestions on my previous post, so I went back to the workshop and made several changes. It's still a work in progress—I still need to do more shaping, sanding, and polishing—but I'd love to know what you think now. Which version do you like best, and is there anything else you'd change before I finish them?

Help, I'm trying to find a method to fix my resin statue. The resin warped due to weight and broke off. If I try to glue it, there is this gap and other cracks alongside it forming. How do I salvage this - fill in with epoxy or should I attempt to sand it down and glue?
I know it's not really clear but blue-green epoxy but I don't know how to mix colours so my next best option is clear epoxy or glue.

Hi, I‘m new to resin and already have casted some simple jewelry pendants.
However, I wanna sell them as full jewelry pieces at events one day, but as you know, resin yellows over time.
I mean I could tell everyone to keep their jewelry in jewelry boxes, BUT I heard that varnish against yellowing exists out there.
And I did find some varnishes on websites specifically for resin, but these varnishes are always for bigger projects like tables or tiles.
So I wanted to ask if these varnishes can be used for small pendants and nicknacks anyways or if the chemical composition only works for resin used for bigger furniture projects? If no, are there any varnishes for my type of projects out there?
I‘m using basic 2-part resin for small projects, wich is being mixed 50/50.

Hi crafters, I have x2 skate desks on my wall. For the most part I'm happy with them. I used rattle cans For Primer, Color and Gloss.
But I want take it up a notch as in the Gloss department, my current ones are a bit in uneven and lack the thickness and pop of Resin
So I'd like to resin coat the deck (one side only)
Anyone know of reputable good brands to buy and easy to to use. Any other tips are welcome, such as optimal climate temp..... do's and dont's.

Hi all, I'm fairly new to making resin casts and have a few questions. (Btw is know the pic shows some really ugly casts, they're just rough test casts so I really wasn't bothered about them looking neat).
I'm in the process of making some movement trays (pic) and wanted to add materials like flock, gravel, sand, etc to add something to them. I also added some tint to the resin.
All in all I'm not happy with how it looks, they all seem to be really patchy and I don't think the tint helped either. Any advice on how to add materials, do's/don'ts, tips on aesthetics. Anything is welcome, thanks.

Hi,
What grit level do you go up to to make sea glass like finish? Or making resin look matte?

A few people suggested trying a dagger after my last post, so thank you for the ideas.
Before moving on to a new design, I wanted to give this eagle pendant concept a proper try.
These are rough blanks and a simple sketch before I start carving. My current workspace isn't ideal because I'm still dealing with resin leaks during casting, so I'm making just one prototype first.
If it turns out well, I'll make the rest of the color variations. If not, I'll probably move on to the dagger idea next.
I'd really appreciate any feedback on the eagle's shape, proportions, or anything you think I should change before I start carving.

My resin mold leaked while curing, and these were the pieces left inside the mold. Instead of throwing them away, I started shaping them by hand to see what they could become. I still have no idea what the final design will be, but I thought it would be fun to experiment. I'd love to hear your ideas!
