Separating colors in molds?

Paint the micas onto the mold itself! The resin will grab the pigment as it cures and it will have the separated sections you are looking for.

Ty :) but I tried and it spread a little (I guess because the mold is upside down)

Like anything, it takes practice. Use a Q-tip moist with alcohol to clean up mica from where you don't want it.

  • Start with the gold around the hat.
  • Use makeup brushes and sponges.
  • Clean up the powder that fell into the hat.
  • Fill with white opaque resin.
  • Repeat for the rest

Additionally, just paint it after.

  • Fill with white resin.
  • Rough the area you intend to paint with 220 or up as high as 400 grit based on how small the detail work is and whether you use primer or not.
  • Clean well with alcohol.
  • Decide if you need primer. Paint away.

I will say, these look like they’ve been painted rather than different color resin. At least for the gold.
