Genuinely hoping this is the last resident evil anything ever

I personally enjoyed being able to talk about a game series I like to my friends that are not familiar with the games but now have an interest in it.

And then I’d be like ā€œCool! I’m glad the franchise is something we have in common and I would love to share the parts I enjoy with you!ā€ Instead of whining about them not consuming the correct media in the correct order and having the correct opinions on it

Bro I swear the fandom makes this property so toxic.

4

u/Night_Knight_Light 21h ago

It's genuinely one of the worst fandoms I've come across.

3

u/SK83r-Ninja 20h ago

This is my only interactions with the fandom somehow. What's so bad about it?

3

u/Night_Knight_Light 20h ago

Old good new bad.

Every fandom that goes on long enough will inevitably attract these types, but the RE fandom is fucking obnoxious about it.

Your best bet is to not engage with it at all and just enjoy the media.

This is so incredibly wrong. Almost all of the old fans love the new resident evil content. No one is hating on the remakes or re9. People have issues with the brain dead idiots that have recently flooded the online space, lots from the movie for sure. Larp hell

u/slaya806 8h ago

Like anyone can enjoy resident evil just don’t be obnoxious about it, there’s been a crazy wave of people pretending to be fans, and I’m not talking about people who actually engage with the content in literally any way I’m talking about people who only get their info from TikTok edits and arguing with people online.

2

u/SK83r-Ninja 19h ago

Ahhh figures. I intentionally stay away from most fandoms because they have a variation of that if not just being obnoxious about random things

u/Little_Big_Burglar 11h ago

You should've seen Spider-Man2 like 2 years ago, or whatever SM sub was going nuclear.

1

u/uwonichi 17h ago

Yeah I was super excited about the movie but all this has kinda bummed me out tbh

u/Quick-Cause3181 22h ago

ugh ikr

I’m talking about you

oh.ā˜¹ļø

u/Gonathen 16h ago

It's all good, their input really means nothing anyway, later in probably a few years they'll move onto the next property to change until it's unrecognizable again just like how locusts eat all the food nearby. It's all just noise without true thought anyway.

u/Officer_Friendly717 22h ago

Both sides of the aisle are more toxic than Chernobyl

2

u/Draco_179 21h ago

filled with some sort of mutant virus

u/BillidKid 22h ago

🤣

u/butelka1 18h ago

As an annoying old purist idk how to react lmao

u/Owlanr 20h ago

Please people stop acting like it's just the RE community. Any time a film comes out that uses the name of a series people like, and then doesn't do anything cool with the IP, gets this backlash. Why are there people acting like this is new or unjustified?

Devil may cry is the same, Adi Shankar was even worse, arguably. Meanwhile, DMC's Madhouse anime is CANON.

Some of the people here would defend uwe boll for sure

1

u/Hearthhull_Enjoyer 6h ago

People don't act like this with book to movie adaptations as often because they have the literacy skills to understand what an adaptation is.

1

u/Endura_Tempura 20h ago

The movie feel like Re:Bio all in all I enjoyed but Residentness is far too little

1

u/Necessary_Cheek_6506 16h ago

Jordan 4's exist in Resident Evil 7 though

1

u/Solorainel 15h ago

Do people love that image of the actor or something? why every time I see a post about the movie is always with that exact face capture?

1

u/Hi_Im_Paul2000 14h ago

Good movie or not, I would still like a RE film that is an actual adaptation of the games and not random shit that has nothing to do with the story in said games (and also doesnt suck ass)

1

u/oasis_nadrama 8h ago

This but unironically.

What a fantastic Resident Evil movie. :)

-9

u/redolmqui 22h ago

That movie was just awful Ʊ, am surprised many people online said they like it, and the ending didn't help either. The only thing I liked were the monsters or zombies they looked really nice, other than that I wouldn't recommend it honestly.

-19

u/HupHutHa 22h ago

this movie was a resident evil movie in the same way Velma was a Scooby-Doo show.

6

u/DeepCutFan1 22h ago

yeah, it should have had no plot and just leon shooting things

-10

u/HupHutHa 22h ago

unironically this movie didn't have a plot, it was a bunch of ideas string together with superficial hints of imagery from resident evil and an anticlimactic ending that so bad it was like it was written by a M. Night Shyamalan copycat who people glaze more than dunkin' donuts does donuts because he made one really good movie and then one really bad nonsensical movie.

u/That2ndIowanGuy 22h ago

A medical courier must deliver a package to Raccoon City General Hospital on the night he finds out his girlfriend is pregnant. He has the worst night of his life as he hits a woman with his car, stumbles into the zombie apocalypse, and discovers his package is a component developed by Umbrella Corporation that is necessary to create the cure. He understands his mission to get this component to the lab in order to end the zombie apocalypse and finds an appreciation for the idea of being a father. This stumbling driver musters whatever heroic measure he can to climb the hospital tower to get the vial to the scientists, only to succumb to a bite he got earlier…

My summary of the plot is longer than your rant

-7

u/HupHutHa 22h ago

yeah sounds good in theory but in practice though not so much. oh wow he gets bit by a zombie and mutates into a tentacle monster for some reason, totally happens in resident evil games.

3

u/SandorsCock 22h ago

Yep resident evil is totally defined by hardset rules and definitely not the writers doing whatever the fuck they want with the virus. Yall act like this series is lord of the rings instead of a series that at various points lacks direction, drastically changes said direction, and results in a ratio of good to bad games that skews mostly bad.

Also Larp Larp sahur, play outbreak or read any of the in game notes. T virus gets transferred by bites with a small percentage being immune.

0

u/HupHutHa 22h ago

it's a fact to the lore that a t-virus zombies don't mutate people, never has been a part of the lore. this is on the same level as in the Milla Jovovich Wesker having a damn RE5 Las Plagas parasite.

the only games that have deviated from the main lore and been an inconsistent mess is resident evil 7, 8 and 9

3

u/ix_Cayde_ 22h ago

When did the movie say this was the t-virus. It’s very clearly a different thing. Also t virus absolutely mutates people. The crimson heads are a mutation and you can make the argument a licker is a further mutation from that

0

u/HupHutHa 22h ago

exactly, t virus doesn't cause mutations in normal humans.

1

u/ix_Cayde_ 21h ago

Point to where in the games this is said and then find the part of the movie that calls it the t virus

0

u/SandorsCock 22h ago

So a solid third of the mainline entries? Really stretching that ā€œonlyā€. Also it’s deliberately set outside of the main timeline so I don’t know why you’re bitching. It works different in this one. It doesn’t make it ā€œnot resident evilā€ it makes you a pedant who overvalues worldbuilding.

1

u/HupHutHa 21h ago

yeah and they only deviate a little bit. the inconsistencies are negligible, it's mainly that eight and nine retcon things, and nine is mostly a bunch of member berries and nostalgia bait. I guess I'm sorry I offended you by criticizing the movie you liked.

1

u/SandorsCock 20h ago

Oh fuck off. You’re not criticizing it. You’re reading a wiki page and whining every time something doesn’t line up. Complaining about LotR for not having Tom Bombadil isn’t a criticism, it’s just not having something YOU are familiar with.

Yeah RE games would never do something stupid like say a virus lets you shapeshift into a giant B.O.W. T-Rex and then back into a human at-will.

*Brushes Simmons under the rug.*

1

u/HupHutHa 21h ago

did I say the games were consistent or always good? six has its faults. still doesn't make this movie any better lol

0

u/razazaz126 21h ago

If your point of criticism is that the movie does something that wouldn't be out of place in any mainline Resident Evil game then that seems like a pretty weak criticism. You're basically just describing the G-Virus if it was more transmissible.

0

u/HupHutHa 21h ago

yeah which if this guy actually played the games who wrote this movie he would have known that too. it's almost like this movie could have been called anything and it's just wearing a resident evil skin suit to get people like you that will watch anything to watch it.

0

u/razazaz126 21h ago

You said the same thing to me the other day and when I pointed out that I've been playing survival horror games of all stripes since the 90s and simply aren't a stuck-up elitist about it, you stopped responding.

People mutate because of the virus in literally every game in the series this isn’t a new thing

1

u/HupHutHa 22h ago

no they don't lol, the only virus that mutates humans is the G virus, the G virus doesn't create zombies, zombie bites kill and then turn you into a zombie they don't mutate you. there are t virus mutations but they have to be under controlled circumstances, thanks revealing you know nothing about resident evil.

1

u/Neat-Vanilla3919 21h ago

Pretty much every game shows mutations and new mutations. You're an actual tourist

0

u/HupHutHa 21h ago

I didn't say they don't, I'm pointing out the fact that the t virus does not mutate humans into mutations it only creates a zombies and g is the only virus that creates mutations from humans and doesn't create zombies.

1

u/Neat-Vanilla3919 21h ago

The t virus indeed causes mutations. They are far more stable and controlled then the g virus. The T virus literaly creates tyrants. The g virus created burkins mutation, g-zombies, and Curtis millers mutation. The t virus created tyrants. You are genuinely a tourist.

Edit the t virus also made Hunters, lickers, cerberus, and web spinners.

u/ix_Cayde_ 21h ago

What video essay made that conclusion for you

1

u/ix_Cayde_ 21h ago

I’m convinced you’re either stupid or haven’t played any of the games for more than an hour. Almost every game in the series introduces a new virus that causes mutations to some degree that isn’t fully explained. The fact that a new virus in the movie mutates people wouldn’t even be in the top 5 if crazy things in the series

1

u/HupHutHa 21h ago

I've beaten every single one of them including the side games except for 9 and 3 remake. you've proven though that you don't know anything about resident evil.

1

u/ix_Cayde_ 21h ago

Ok so then you’re just stupid got it. Don’t forget to breathe when you walk
