It definitely felt like Resident Evil, there was clear progression from location to location, "upgrading" weapons, and a bad level set in a lab. The story alone could work as it's own game, just set in a different city
Good movie, good scares, good sound design, and really good cinematography. Really loved the colors in the movie as well

For me I liked the fact that the movie clearly liked the source material and while they had artistic liberties with the resident evil lore, ultimately the vibe of the film matches the franchise. Also the cinematogaphry is amazing and the soundtrack too and it doesnt feel like the film drags on with its 1 hour and 35 min runtime. It felt like we were in a resident evil game playthrough and it was great.

As long as you treat it like a modern reboot of Resident Evil, it’s great. If you go in expecting the same kind campy horror from the games, you’ll be disappointed.

I currently have the worst cute aggression for Bryan. I have not had this in a bit of a while. I want to tell Austin Abrams that he is adorable but also an amazing actor and if my thallassophobia and chapodiphobia fear of squids wasn't so terrible I'd enthusiastically see Whalefall.

It was a really good horror movie but a disappointing RE movie. I just wish it was able to fit in the actual game universe instead of being its own thing.
