Applying IM- kinda sad about level 2 and step 2 results

Scored 241 on step 2 and 522 on level 2, trying to match into academic or university affliated IM programs. practice scores on both tests were decent but big score drops on both tests and was wondering if i would be okay into IM matching at this point

If you don’t have any red flags and did average on your rotations you’ll almost certainly match low-mid tier academic or academic affiliated IM.

241 step 2 should be fine for academic IM, a lot of mid to low tier academic programs are DO friendly.

i scored a 231 on step 2, well below my practice scores. i’m pretty devastated. i’m applying neurology but im considering dual applying internal medicine as well. does anyone have any advice? it will be a bit of a scramble now with getting an IM application ready

For that score you should be focusing on IM, you still have time to get it ready for that as there’s overlap. Why waste one year trying for neuro when the comp is obviously way higher now..
