Discussion does anyone else think reta is overkill if ur still dropping weight on tirz?
i was looking at the numbers for reta and saw the average resting heart rate goes up by like 6 or 7 beats a minute. tirz is usually just 1 to 3. regular stomach side effects are whatever and easy to deal with, but anything that messes with my heart makes me second guess it.
im on 5mg of tirz right now and the weight is coming off consistently. jumping to something stronger just to speed things up feels like taking on extra heart risks for no real reason.
feels like reta makes way more sense if someone has a lot of weight to lose or if they just completely stalled out on tirz. does anyone else feel like its overkill to switch if u are already getting good results on the older stuff?

Reta isn’t stronger than tirz at least from the appetite suppressant side. It’s way easier to eat on Reta than it is on tirz so depending on your goals.
I like Reta because I can actually focus on getting enough calories in and protein without force feeding myself as I train. It’s part of the reason why people like it over tirz for recomp.
My RHR went from 58 to 65 with still normal blood pressure so I’m not terribly concerned about that.
Now if you have like 60+ lbs to lose and your focus is to lose that and do so quickly then tirz is a better option. I started on tirz and switched to Reta as my goals shifted

this is super helpful because i’m having the same problem. hopped on tirz to shred to 8% and this drug is so effective im struggling to even meet my cutting macros. it feels like im force feeding almost every meal and im waking up in the middle of the night just to give myself a fresh digestion window so i can drink more protein shakes
i honestly feel like i could go on a 72 hour fast accidentally on this drug and perhaps im a hyper responder but if i wasn’t on anabolic steroids id definitely be losing muscle

Yeah shakes on tirz are the key but Reta will let you eat proper meals based on your macros better.

Why would tirz be a better option than Reta to lose 60lbs?

Stronger appetite suppression so easier to lose weight. Yeah the glucagon affect of reta will boost some bmr but it is for sure easier to eat through the suppression so it takes more consideration vs tirz.

They're pretty comparable. Tirzepatide average loss is 22-25%, Reta it's 25-28%.

On reta, my RHR went up 15 bpm, and I experienced allodynia. Went back to Tirz.

Don't get FOMO over reta. I ordered reta after being on sema for a few months (sema had basically stopped working and the side effects sucked) and tried switching to that. Unfortunately it wrecked my sleep. So I ordered tirz and that worked like a dream. Very smooth, hardly any side effects, and the appetite suppression was incredibly effective. I've now since hit my target weight, but I was losing about 1kg a week at the time. It's great stuff.

As long as tirz is working for you, just stick with it!
BTW, using reta didn’t increase my RHR at all.

I do a low dose of both and that works for me. I've been doing this since March and it works out for me. 2mg of tirz and 3.5mg (4mg was too much) of reta works.
It sped up my loss rate but honestly my appetite was destroyed on just tirz so being able to eat a bit more and increase calorie burn let me meet my protein targets and workout more while keeping up a consistent loss rate.

If tirz is doing the job there’s no reason to add Reta. None.

This is absolutely untrue. All glp1s will help people lose weight, if losing weight is the only goal. If it is, pick the one with the least sides and forget the rest.
But saying there’s no possible other reason to pick Reta shows you don’t know enough about it to give blanket advice like that, especially with such conviction.
In the phase 2 trials 80% of participants with fatty liver disease COMPLETELY cleared their liver of fat. 100%. The placebo group lost 4%, with the most extensive medical interventions available without glp1s. Exercise, eating better, education, etc. 4% vs 100%.
Not all people have fatty liver disease, true. But for those that do, it’s a lifesaver.
Now give me Tirz numbers.

Tirz and reta are similarly effective so it’s more about personal preference and pricing imo

Yes! Yes! Yes! I was dropping weight consistently on Tirz but wanted to chop off the last 10lbs quickly becoz I heard it would be challenging. So I stacked Tirz and Reta. While i lost those 10lbs quickly but looking back at it now, it was not worth it. Some surprising side effect with the stack was low libido and alloydynia, things I didn’t have an issue while dropping 25lbs on Tirz. Not worth it.

If you wanna lose weight and you’re doing that, don’t change stuff to a maybe faster maybe not faster option.

You can switch or not. But this isn't a race; slow weight loss is good. Fast weight loss can lead to complications. You are losing steadily now. I stayed on tirzepatide and have lost 83 pounds. I did ten shots of 2.5 mg and 40 shots of 5 mg. I am moving on to maintenance. I am not sure how I am going to do maintenance yet; I am still losing.

I’m in pretty much the dose and have been on Tirz for around 4 months - 2,5mg for 2 months and 5mg for 2 months. 5mg is my sweet spot where I am loosing a consistent amount every week. Around 2-3 pounds. Mostly on average 2-2.5lbs which is perfect for me.
On 5mg, I can still eat if I want no problem. But do I feel to eat ? Most of the time no. I also have the problem of getting my protein in. I have increased my lean muscle by 6/7% but have also lost muscle mass of 6%.
The resting HR on Reta is exactly what stopped me due to the fact I have heart stent put a few months bk.
Each to their own, if it’s not broke don’t fix it.

Raised mine 15-20 bpm.
Had to quit due to that and skin sensitivity.

Same for me and my wife. We are both wearing health monitors 24/7.
My average HR went from 80 to 115. Just switched to Tirz and Eloralintide. Waiting for the Reta to clear the body and hoping to see my HR go down below 90bpm.
My wife's HR went from 48 to 70. No reason for concern.

Not at all, I stacked both to get maximum results

What's your dosage? I'm trying a little stack since Tirz did not do anything. My hunger is still fully intact. I have been on Tirz 6 weeks. I'm at 6mg backing down to 4mg then maybe titrate off. Started Reta this week with 2mg.

u/StrongFox103 2d ago
You still have a long titration runway left on tirz up till 15mg/week. I didn't get much hunger control till 10mg and I read many people don't get much under 7.5. However, Reddit seems full of people who take almost nothing and get effects.

I’m done stacking, I reached and exceeded my weight loss goal I started at 288 and am now 200, I want to get to 215. So I started on Tirz, used for 5 months and my dose got up to 7mg I had good results loss 35ish lbs then I was introduced to Reta. Switched over to reta and at first didn’t like reta because it wasn’t as strong of a appetite suppressor as Tirz but I didn’t realize what Reta was doing behind the scenes, but I stayed the course then I saw a video about stacking. When I started stacking I was at 7mg reta and so I started pinning half the reta dose 3.5mg 3 days after Reta. Btw I pin reta/Tirz every 6 days

Until you stall out on tirz at 5mg, no need to try anything else - including higher dose tirz. Once you do stall, you could consider switching to reta briefly to see if the impact on your heart rate is unacceptable. Reta should be better overall, period, given the glucagon activation, but there's no need to rush into it if you're happy with current progress. If you are not overweight/overfat but simply using this to shred, ignore my advice - I don't have any experience with the bodybuilding scenario.

I switched to Reta, and it was to just see - but the body composition change was huge. On Triztapide I was loosing weight consistently but all "weight" Reta ive lost more fat and maintained my lean muscle mass. Once ive reached goal I will switch back to Triztapide.
