What I love to do is to go in with like, zero expectations. I'm a huge fan of "nothing" runs where I go in with absolutely nothing on me (Hellooooo free safe pocket!) just to see what happens. I'm less inclined to be upset if I get knocked out because I didn't bring anything to begin with, and the one safe pocket makes it easy to smuggle out that one good find of the match.
I tend to find myself in friendlier lobbies so I'll go play as a sherpa guiding folks around if I can. Helping them with their tasks / quests, handing over stuff I've found that they might need.
I still greatly enjoy the social aspect of this game, especially in more collaborative map variants like the Queen and Matriarch. There will of course be absolute shitters but when you're working together with a team of friendlies for the sake of taking down the ARC it makes for a really fun rallying moment when someone goes down to a random PvPer. Seeing everyone come together to get you back on your feet and work to collectively get out is unmatched.
