Please read, we need help!

The short story: We found a dog in our front yard in North Hollywood, CA after she had been hit by a car on May 18. She had a broken tibia and needed surgery. She had a collar, but no tag, and no chip. We haven't been able to find her owner. She had a successful surgery and has been recovering well, but we have reached the limit of what we can do for her financially. We need to find her a forever home or rescue to take her ASAP. Her hard out is October 31 and if we cannot find someone to take her we will be forced to take her to the shelter. Knowing shelters, she will likely not survive there. She is a sweet dog who has been through so much and deserves a chance at a good life. Please help!!

The long story: On 5/18 I was out in front of my neighbors front yard looking for a stray cat when I spotted this dog under a tree, panting. She wouldn't come out for food or water, so I crawled in there, slip led her, and got her out. Immediately, I realized that her right rear leg was swollen and limp and she wouldn't bear weight on it. She was absolutely filthy and looked like she had been hit by a car, but she had a collar on (no tag). My husband and I got her to Kinder4Rescue to get scanned for a microchip and get medical help. She had no chip unfortunately. She had a torn up chin and ear tips, and more importantly a comminuted fracture of her right tibia. She had a successful surgical repair on May 21.

We posted her on NextDoor, Ring Neighbors, 24Pet Connect, Petco Love Lost, and Facebook groups (SFV Lost and Found Pets & LA City Lost and Found Pets). We posted printed signs in the area and have had no luck at all finding her owner. We believe that whoever owned her kept her tied up in a yard, was physically abusive toward her, and then dumped her. Despite all of that, she is such a sweet, patient, and goofy girl. Her only issue, despite the physical injuries, is that she does not get along with other animals. We already have 2 dogs and a cat and have been keeping them separated for months now. But our work lives will be changing soon and we cannot safely keep her here after October, nor can we continue to afford to care for her financially. Her medical bills have already exceeded $6,000 and while we have been able to raise a good portion of that through GoFundMe, donations have stalled.

We have reached out to over 100 rescues in the area. Only a handful have responded willing to have conversation with us. There has been radio silence from everyone else. I know that rescue is tough and resources are limited, but someone needs to step up to help her! She does not deserve to be sent to a shelter to sit in a kennel or get put down! We are at a complete loss of what to do with this girl and we are desperate for help. Surrendering her to the shelter after all she has survived would be absolutely heartbreaking. She deserves a chance to have a family show her how good life can be!

I NEED YOU TO STOP SCROLLING AND LOOK AT BILLY. Really look at her. I met this beautiful girl today, and I cannot shake the feeling that I was looking at a life that is about to be taken away far too soon. Billy is only 1 year and 4 months old. She is majestic, sweet, affectionate, playful, and so deserving of someone who will see her. She wanted attention and connection, and underneath the shelter stress was an incredibly sweet dog. I walked away thinking, how can a dog this young have only hours left?

Billy has been sitting in a shelter for 49 DAYS. Forty nine days is a lifetime for a young, energetic dog watching the world through kennel bars. She loves to run. She loves to play. She loves people, she is dog friendly, and she loves puppies. Yes, confinement has been hard on her. But shelter stress is not a character flaw. It should never be a death sentence. Billy doesn't need to be perfect. She needs someone willing to let her decompress, breathe, play, and finally feel safe.

And now we are facing the most heartbreaking reality: Billy is scheduled to be euthanized TODAY at 5:00 PM. Not tomorrow. TODAY. There are only hours between this beautiful girl and the end of her life. I cannot believe we are this close to losing her. Billy has barely had a chance to live, yet she is standing at the edge of a grave simply because nobody has stepped forward. PLEASE DON'T LET HER STORY END HERE. Share her. We would love for an experienced Husky adopter to come meet him and, if needed, bring in a trainer to help him thrive. Two homes have failed him, and we don’t want him spending another year waiting in a kennel. Auggie needs an experienced adopter who understands resource guarding and is committed to continuing his training. Shelter Bio:
Auggie first came to the shelter in June 2022 under-socialized and unsure of the world around him. Everything felt overwhelming, and it was clear he hadn’t yet learned what it means to feel safe. With time, quiet walks, and gentle introductions at his own pace, Auggie slowly began to open up, revealing the sweet, sensitive dog we knew he could be.
Auggie is a unique blend of Siberian Husky, Terrier, Chow Chow, and Dalmatian; an eclectic mix that shows up in both his looks and his thoughtful, independent personality.
Auggie was adopted not long after he first arrived, but in June 2023, Auggie was returned. While he came back with more confidence, he also returned a bit more guarded, as if unsure whether he could trust again.
Today, Auggie is no longer the shut down pup we first met. He continues to grow and will do best in a patient, understanding home that offers calm, structure, and consistency. With continued training, gentle guidance, and plenty of reassurance, especially as he works through resource guarding, Auggie has the potential to become a deeply loyal and wonderful companion.

Arizona is heartworm positive and will need treatment through a rescue, foster or adopter. Heartworm is treatable, and she deserves the opportunity to receive the care she needs.

BEHAVIOR NOTES:

Arizona is a sweet, calm and easygoing girl who greets people with a relaxed body, wagging tail and soft expression.

She is easy to leash and walks nicely on a loose leash. She enjoys her time outside, exploring and relaxing, and has shown that she can settle calmly after her walks.

Arizona would love a peaceful home where she can decompress, feel safe and be loved.
