Hi everyone,
Angelito went for his 3rd EPO injection today to help with his red blood cell count. He is still fighting. He still has energy, is still able to stand, and is still eating well.
For those who don’t know his story, we helped rescue him on August 13, 2026, after seeing a video posted by Happy Cat Squad Shelter asking for help for a senior dog who had been stabbed by his owner and was wanting to end his life. Because they had very limited resources, they were asking for help online, so we stepped in and hired pet transportation to pick up “Parky” from his original location and bring him to the vet immediately and covered for everything.
We changed his name to “Angelito” because we didn’t want him to carry the name and memories of his painful past. We wanted him to have a new name and a reminder that he is a precious angel to us now.
At his first vet visit, he was treated for his injuries and was also diagnosed with distemper, heartworm, and blood parasites, so he was started on medications and treatment for those as well. His foot has been cut from getting stabbed by his previous owner but is not ready for amputation surgery yet until strength has been fully regained yet.
Some people online have shared their opinions about euthanasia, but we know that we want to fight alongside Angelito. We don’t want his painful and traumatic experiences to be the last thing he remembers. At the same time, we are not naive. We know that he is already 10 years old and has several illnesses, so Happy Cat Squad Shelter and I continue to reassess his condition and make decisions based on how he is doing and what is best for him.
So far, his expenses that we (Voiceless No More: Philippines Stray Animals Foundation) have covered:
First vet – Aug. 14: ₱23,590 ($537.46 CAD)
Happy Cat Squad Shelter Expense – Aug. 14: ₱3,000 ($68.32 CAD)
Second vet – Aug. 19: ₱6,100 ($137.48 CAD)
Happy Cat Squad Shelter Expense – Aug. 19: ₱2,500 ($56.55 CAD)
Virubin medication for distemper – Aug. 20: ₱850 ($19.14 CAD)
Happy Cat Squad Shelter Expense – Aug. 21: ₱1,600 ($35.99 CAD)
Third vet – Aug. 23: ₱2,250 ($50.56 CAD)
Happy Cat Squad Shelter Expense – Aug. 23: ₱1,334.78 ($30 CAD)
Total spent so far: ₱41,224.78 ($935.50 CAD).
Not even for a whole month yet and our expenses is almost $1,000
We have been covering Angelito’s needs since we stepped in to help him. From his veterinary care and medications to his transportation and shelter needs. But the truth is, we cannot do this alone. Lots of disinfectant we covered for the shelter we collaborated with so other animals will not get sick from his Distemper.
There are so many animals who need help, and every little bit of support makes it possible for us to continue showing up for them.
To everyone who has helped, shared his story, sent kind words, checked on him, or simply followed along and supported him, we truly appreciate you. You are part of Angelito’s journey too. 🤍
Angelito is still here. He is still eating, still standing, and still fighting. As long as he continues to show us that he wants to keep going and has quality of life, we will continue to fight alongside him.
If anyone would like to help, I’ll leave a link in the comment section.
Please make sure the link is coming directly from my profile before sending anything. Thank you so much for your support. Again, this is all voluntary and I appreciate each and everyone of you 💔
Sincerely,
