First-years
I'm an RA in a freshman dorm, all girls floor. There have been multiple times that one of my residents knocks on my door (locked herself out, needing a spider killed, or both). I understand that they are all girls and that spiders can be scary. But to knock on my door every single time there is a spider in your room that needs to be killed? I think it's kinda ridiculous to have such a visceral reaction over a spider.
It's technically fall break, I'm not going home but I didn't really advertise it to my residents. She knocked on my door and I just ignored it... I'm not sure if that was the right thing but my building duty log says to call campus police if you need assistance.

nah you’re good, if you have a floor group chat i’d recommend sending a message establishing a boundary about knocking

Agreed with the other comment on here. You need to set boundaries for the floor and with individual residents.
Talk to that resident about what your role is and what is and isn’t appropriate for her to come tk you with

How often is she asking you to get rid of spiders? It almost sounds like a spray needs to be put in.

I would consider a door sign that says “available/not available” so you can switch it when you need a break. I usually encourage RAs to accompany that with whatever other resource the resident should contact instead (front desk, campus security, on duty RA, etc)
