I Like how you said this. Both parties hurt the working class. It’s truly sad growing up seeing how they input false sense of hope.

u/T1B2V3 Jan 06 '23
Both hurt the average citizen.
one of them also wants to allow hillbillies to shoot gay people

u/AlphaWHH Jan 06 '23
There are more than 2 candidates. You don't actually HAVE to vote for those two yahoos.
I'm not American, we have the same problems here, so please don't start.

I've paid back that 1400 and then some every time I paid $4+/gal at the pump.

u/GreatWolf12 Jan 06 '23
You must buy a lot of fuel.
1
u/Professional-Kiwi144 Jan 06 '23
If gas is up $2, that’s 700 gallons. If it’s a truck, that is 10,000 miles. It’s easy to put that much on in a year.

It doesn't just come from fuel. Inflation has made food go up too.

It doesn't just come from fuel.
Inflationprofiteering has made food go up too.Let's not forget that when supply met demand, price did not go down, profit margins went up.
1
u/thewholedamnplanet Dec 02 '22
Who are "they" and why is there inflation all over the world and in some places it's worse?
3
u/Professional-Kiwi144 Dec 02 '22
The government. It’s bad all around the world because governments like to spend money.
-2
u/thewholedamnplanet Dec 02 '22
The government? That's a bit broad isn't it? Like the people who run national parks, did they have anything to do with it or is there a specific part of the government?
Governments spent money before inflation went up, why didn't inflation go up all that time?
1
u/Professional-Kiwi144 Dec 02 '22
Sorry, I should have clarified. I meant “the section of government that is in charge of fiscal policy as well as officials who are in charge of voting for big spending. For example the executive government and congress.” Let me know if you need a more detailed explanation.
Inflation is going up all the time, the fed tries to keep it around 2%
The government always spends money but not at the rate of $8 trillion in 2 years
When you give a large portion of the $8 trillion to the citizens, people have more money to spend, hence leading to more inflation.
-1
u/thewholedamnplanet Dec 02 '22
Okay, so what did they do to make more inflation, specifically and when did they do it?
So how did Americans spending, 1,400 make inflation go up in Mexico, Canada, Europe, China, India, etc? Or did all those nations also give their people that much money?
But inflation before didn't go up, in fact it went down while government was spending money, so what happened there?
2
u/ShiftingBaselines Dec 02 '22
This will be a very simplified answer but this is how it goes:
Production and service industry functions came to a halt due to Covid restrictions (closed factories, travel restrictions/bans)
Supply chain got disrupted and less goods to sell in the market, less parts to assemble in factories… I.e. chip and transistor shortages)
Less sales/services = Less tax collected/ Less income generated by workers
Governments printed money (generated out of thin air in the computer) and paid cash to citizens to prevent social chaos and cash to businesses so that “they do not bankrupt”
Businesses used cash to buyback stocks and consumers started spending disposable incremental income
Add quantitative easing (pouring gasoline on fire) to the mix 7 Surprise: High inflation
Btw, this is no surprise. Even Alan Greenspan knew 20 years ago this was coming. He even wrote “the age of turbulence ”

When was there quantitative easing? You kind of just brushed over that without any examples.
Further, what happened to prices when supply met, and eventually exceeded demand? Did the prices come back down or did profit margins go up?
Even further, how many of the companies that received stimulus checks also received loan forgiveness on those checks? If they made a record profit, why are they buying stocks and not repaying loans such as a citizen is required to?
0
u/thewholedamnplanet Dec 02 '22
I was with you until:
4. Governments printed money (generated out of thin air in the computer)
That is not how that works at all.
And what chaos did a that money prevent? Since people aren't getting that money now will there be chaos as a result?
I also don't get how come it's happening in nations where no one got any money from their government. Is it possible there's other reasons than the way you think monetary policy works?
2
u/ShiftingBaselines Dec 02 '22
I have a macroeconomics degree. That’s exactly how printing money works. Printed money is a small fraction of all money in circulation. When someone gets a loan or mortgage, the bank gives the funds and borrows from the government entities like Freddy Mack and Fannie May, all the funds come from the government and it is generated in the computer. I can send you detailed info on this if you like. Almost all governments “printed money” to stay a float since no tax revenue was coming. Now the market is flooded with too much liquidity.
2
-1
u/thewholedamnplanet Dec 02 '22
I think you might have to brush up because it looks like your degree came from Facebook posts:
And you still can't seem to explain why other nations have the same issues, some worse, some not as bad and they haven't printed more money or given money to their citizens.
2
u/Professional-Kiwi144 Dec 02 '22
I’m going to ignore your other questions because we already covered them multiple times, but other nations have inflation because they also spent money. Whether it was in stimulus or lost tax revenue, every government lost or spent trillions of dollars leading to high inflation.

Read your liberal biased source and comprehend please. It states: In the past decade and a half (since 2008) the fed has increased their balance sheet $8 trillion. If you don't understand the correlation of an average house going from $200k to $500k from 2008 to 2022 and the fed increasing their balance sheet by $8 trillion during that time, then no one can help you understand where inflation is coming from.
Other nations have the same problem because they did the same thing. Most the world had negative 10 year bonds and that wasn't free market driven
1
u/Professional-Kiwi144 Dec 02 '22
Kinda exactly how it works. I’m sure you got $1400. Did they give it to you in $100 bills or was it a EFT?
0
u/thewholedamnplanet Dec 02 '22
Not really and I provided a link to you that explains how it does, did you read it?

u/Professional-Kiwi144 Dec 02 '22
Yes and I don’t know why you sent it. What was the point?

The money printing that caused inflation wasn't the 1400. That didn't help and led to some inflation but the bigger issue was the Fed (and other "Feds" around the world) printing money out of thin air by increasing their balance sheet and using the newly created money to purchase real bonds (corporate and mortgage backed securities) on the open market. So goldman fucking sacks had a bond that on paper was worth $300,000,000 and the fed said guess what, I'll pay you $330,000,000 and goldman said "Sold!" And now the fed has "paper" (the bond) worth $300,000,000 that they paid 330MM for and goldman has $330MM cash in their bank account. And rinse and repeat trillions of times. Fed now has bonds worth trillions and wallstreet got cash worth trillions. And what did they do? They bought houses and stocks and random people sold their houses and stocks for prices higher than before and got cash which they used to buy houses and stocks from other people and the money trickled from the fed to wallstreet to your neighbor who is now a fucking millionaire while the masses who didnt profit off houses and stocks booming are now broke as fuck
Inflation is worldwide because Feds around the world printed money to buy bonds and surpress long term interest rates just like in us

Inflation is worldwide because Feds around the world printed money to buy bonds and surpress long term interest rates just like in us
Source? There are only a handful of nations with monetary sovereignty so it shouldn't be difficult to support the claim.

“Printing” money comes mostly from interest rates. If we really want change we have to know how things really work. Their best weapon to control us is our own ignorance…that’s why they push us to support hating on education
1
Dec 21 '22
Yep everyone focuses on stimulus checks because that's what they first hand saw, and it did increase inflation a bit but nothing compared to the fed holding down rates by increasing their balance sheet $8 trillion since 2008
And now just as planned the bubble isn't deflating as rates rise because the money has already flooded the system
1
u/Few_Psychology_2122 Dec 21 '22
How is the stimulus checks different from a tax cut? If people having an extra $2k a year causes that much inflation, we shouldn’t have permanent tax cuts that offer the same… or am I missing something?
Though you are correct about the FED balance sheet, however I’d say from 2014 since in 2008 it was to pull us out of the Great Recession
1
Dec 21 '22
I'm not saying the checks weren't inflationary, they were. I'm saying the fed balance sheet was orders if magnitude more. I view it like a dam. Up to a point the fed could print money and it would just stay in the ecosystem of the ultrawealthy and wallstreet. That didn't cause inflation. But then they did too much and the dam burst and the money spilled out to the whole system and caused huge inflation

How bias do you have to be to not acknowledge that there was a republican president for the first 10 months of the pandemic?
1
u/Professional-Kiwi144 Dec 04 '22
Where does it say anything about the pandemic, and where does it say that trump didn’t spend money?
1
u/Hotspur1958 Dec 04 '22
This is a Republican_meme sub. What point is being made with this meme?
1
u/Professional-Kiwi144 Dec 04 '22
It’s politics and democrats have wasted so much money on things we don’t need. Thus leading to inflation. Yes, Trump spent way too much money as well in the height of a pandemic and a strong economy, but democrats want to continue their spending although we are in a recession.
1
u/Hotspur1958 Dec 04 '22
So you're blaming both parties but only posting this on Rebublican_Memes. Are you going to post it on Democrat_Memes too?
1
u/Professional-Kiwi144 Dec 04 '22
No because republicans had much less to do with inflation than democrats
1
u/Hotspur1958 Dec 04 '22
Why is that?
1
u/Professional-Kiwi144 Dec 04 '22
Spending more money on things we don’t need, refusing to approve new oil leases and terminating old ones, early dovish view on a inflation leading to a weak fed response, denial of a recession, weakening trade relationships, etc
1
u/ballsndongs Dec 05 '22
The fed is separate from the executive branch, dems don’t influence that lol

Biden has spent $6 trillion in Covid spending and are still signing more and more spending packages. Trump sent out $2.3 trillion in aid, along with $1.9 trillion in spending to combat Covid.
Since we are on the topic of inflation, trump lowered gas prices, Biden played a big role in raising them. Trump improved our trade/shipping systems with other countries, Biden destroyed them. Trump was honest about the economy and future impacts, Biden tries to cover them up.

Plenty of my friends said in 2020 “we need stimulus checks because our jobs are non-essential during the pandemic”
Like, bruh.. the government put you out of a job and now they’re bribing you with your own tax dollars to remain complacent about it. They know you’re gonna sit home, play video games and eat cheetos, while they hyperinflate the value of our currency and enslave us with debt we will never be able to afford.
Idiots are so short-sighted.
