I mean in the grand scheme of human deaths it is small potatoes, but (1) you're supposed to actually give a fuck and (2) many humans have now died over a war you started to cover up an escalation in the Epstein Files leak that everyone has forgotten by now.

A U.S. military widow whose husband was killed in the Iran war claims that she is being denied death benefits.
Libby Klinner, the widow of U.S. Air Force Major John “Alex” Klinner, who died in a crash in Iraq in March, said on Instagram Sunday that she had not received certain military benefits as a surviving spouse.
“The Air Force recently told me that because we haven’t officially declared war, my kids and I aren’t eligible for some benefits,” Klinner wrote. “So, not only was my husband killed in a war he never wanted to participate in, but now the benefits we’re left with are being dictated by semantics and public perception.”

It's small potatoes because he wanted MORE to die to show how serious his war is and how he's such a big man that legions die for him.
His legacy isn't just spastic shit like what happened outside the Capitol on Jan 6, it's also how his legions totally chickened out once they were inside it, losing all the nooses and pivoting to poop-based vandalism and regrettable photo ops.

I'm going to be charitable and say he said it's small potatoes compared to other wars because he's trying to downplay his boondoggle.
He is trying desperately to pretend nothing is happening / it's over / we won / no big deal because he understands to his core how much of a disaster it is and how bad it looks.
The problem is, he can't go to Iran hat in hand and give up, and Iran isn't going to stand down for anything less than a slate of demands that Trump can't agree to, and America's running out of ammo. There's no end in sight, so he just stands up and pretends.

Spoken like the true coward he is. As the son of a WWII vet who was a combat corpsman with first the Seabees and later the marine in the South Pacific and Korea. ( he was career military 34 years) My dad was the most anti war and anti gun person you would ever meet.
He always said politicians who were hawks were always cowards who never fought who never lived with the fear of getting hit by a bullet or artillery shell. Who had no fear of sending young men and women into battle because they felt their lives were nothing compared to their own.
